This is Franklin. Maybe one year they'll figure it out, but they were the better team last night, at home, great conditions, and they lose. That's Franklin. But he'll put together another double digit win season and no one will really care. So disappointing with the amount of talent on this team.

That's a gut punch loss. Sorry guys. Except for Nittany ned...I hope that ruined Nittany needs football season.
Lol thanks dude. Yeah I'm just gutted today. We dominated most stretches of that game and still didn't win. I think PSU had the better overall squad but Franklin was outcoached by Meyer... Again. Sucks...

Ive said it before and said it again, if pitt went 10-2 in back to back regular seasons and didn’t make the CFP in either one, pitt fans would want him fired.

I don't want him fired... I want him to get it figured out. I have to believe that eventually he will, but we'll see. There's still a chance for this year. Just need a ton of help.

You aren’t wrong imo. My point has as much to do with a Pitt fan’s mentality versus a UPS (and pretty much the rest of the football universe’s) mentality. But the point stands.

I agree there is definitely more of a forgiving nature, in large part because of where that program was not so long ago. It is immensely frustrating though... This year was CFP or bust.

As terrible as that play call was- and the play call was still terrible- OSU pulled that screen out down 12 in the 4th until we could stop it- and we never could. boom. You can what if any game to death I guess but even if they convert the 4th down they still had to get what- 20 more for a viable FG attempt by a PK who, BTW, Franklin earlier in the game showed that he didn't trust. Kick that FG and make it = win. Stop the screen a couple times late = win. Make the 2 pt conversion= go to OT and probably still lose because that D was not stopping anything at that point.

Funny thing is I spent the whole 1st half talking about needing TD's and not FG's,and today my kingdom for another FG.

The team that played better frankly has lost the last 3 PSU/OSU games. Guess that's just football.

While the 4th-and-5 call was certainly....... a curiosity, they wouldn't have been in that position if the defense hadn't played like a collection 11 random drunks plucked from the bleachers on tOSU's last two scoring drives. On the winning drive, they had consecutive plays where they lined up with an overload/uncovered slot receiver. And then they showed the field awareness and tackling acumen of Simple Jack.

Been telling myself that I expected to lose last night, it's just a game and unimportant in the grand scheme of life, etc.--both true. But I'm still pretty bummed out. I guess I'm not as evolved as I thought. <shrug>

I walked around a major sporting event today feeling like my dog died. I’m also a bad loser.

A waste of an outstanding white-out.

PSU drops 2 spots to 11. I expected to be at 13 or 14.

It reads as sarcasm when it comes from an anti-PSU fan.

I got an e-mail from the PSU alumini association saying I can save $509 with liberty mutual... do you think they did that on purpose?

I'm here.

Adam Bittner is saying if PSU wins out (very possible), they can still make the playoff.

Eh. I feel best case scenario would be Rose Bowl. And going there and winning after what happened there two years ago... I would be happy with.

But yes - it does suck to again lose the big game to OSU. They're like New England has been to the Steelers over the years - gatekeepers to winning the big one.

I agree with that analogy, except that I think Penn State has been the more talented team two out of the last three years.

Maybe that’s the trick to beating osu. Be worse than them.

For those of you down on PSU: who are the biggest threats to them in this entire conference besides OSU? Michigan and MSU right? Would PSU come out as flat as those two have, at home, against mediocre Maryland and Northwestern teams?

No way.

There’s Wisconsin too, but they showed the country who they were losing to a BYU team at home who lost to Utah St last night.

PSU under Franklin this season and the last 2 seasons as well wouldn’t do this at home. They just wouldn’t. Even on the road where they’re admittedly weaker - they take care of business.

Came out pretty damn flat in Champaign vs likely the 2nd worst team in the league and trailed after halftime before running away with it.

I said at home blah blah blah

Iowa always plays us tough and Michigan will be a tough game to win on the road. I expect us to beat Indiana, but that is a road game and they kept it close with OSU for much of the game.
