Iowa 5 Ups 0? Extremely on brand for this series. I’m watching Pitt but there is clearly a bunch of nonsense on the way in this game.
These games are always weird
Sure seems that way.

Remember the Iowa 6 : 4 PSU final? I had to look up the year; it was 2004 in Happy Valley.

Then there was the weird OT loss to Iowa where Joe chased down the ref and shoved a photo in his pocket.

Ah, memories... What doesn't kill your sports fandom makes it stronger, OP.

2 of the worst PSU games I've ever been to involved Iowa and yet neither of the ones you cited are part of that list.

Those two are just weird. "Worst" have to include 2008 and 2009. Brutal. One of them was in Iowa (forget which one).

2008 was in Iowa when PSU was #2. Lost on a last-second FG after a bogus pass interference penalty
2009 was one of the games that I attended -- rained and PSU looked like the slop that they played in.

The other worst game was 1996 in a driving rainstorm much like today's and Tim Dwight took a punt back for a TD that was the difference in a 21-20 loss.

2009 was in happy valley. Safeties, and losing the game 21-10 after Evan Royster fumbled on like the 5 yard line to get the potential tying score.

Was my senior year.

I got absolutely rocked at Tony's that night and remember Daryl Clark walking in at like 1:30 with his girlfriend.

Yep. 08 would've been potential national championship season if not for that loss.

I like PSU +10 at Michigan this weekend.

Our O is better, our D has proven for stretches it can be solid... and really no one on that Michigan offense scares me much.

Michigan tends to choke around this part of the season too. Just a hunch.

We are losing this game by at least two TDs.

I'm not guaranteeing a victory.

I am however guaranteeing PSU covers.

I could see it being one of those games PSU controls throughout, then chokes away in the end (ala MSU/OSU the last 2 seasons)

Harbaugh is cut from a similar cloth to franklin. He hasn’t forgotten last year and wants revenge. Michigan by 3 tds.

I’m changing my mind... PSU not only covers. They win today.

Give me McSorley, Sanders, Hamler over Patterson and whoever the hell his skill players are.

This offense sucks. McSorley is the most overrated QB in football. Franklin is a bum that couldn't carry Harbaugh's jock strap. What a boring team without any identity.

Overrated?? Didn’t you see the perfect spiral on that over thrown guaranteed touchdown pass???

Did we ever find out the extent of McSorley's knee injury? Granted, it shouldn't hamper his decision making.

I expected PSU would have 2 losses, to OSU and Michigan. I didn't count on the fart vs. MSU, so whatever.

You have an O that is first in all of college football in drops/targets vs. one of the best, if not the best, D in all of college football (PLUS THE REVENGE TOUR GRRRRR) and this is what you're going to get.

McSorley should've been pulled for Stevens for the 2nd half. Just me, though.

I despise very few people, but Jim Harbaugh is definitely one of them.

I sometimes wonder if his own unlikable brother ever looks at him and shakes his head, like, "Dude, you're SUCH a petulant dick."

Signs of a poorly-coached team:
--You don't improve as the season goes on
--You don't make adjustments to things that aren't working (i.e. receivers who can't catch)
--You continue to take the same dumb penalties every week (#54 jumping offsides when he's over the damn ball)

Signs you are a poor coach:
--You call a timeout 3 minutes into the game on 4th and a mile because you don't want to take a delay of game which would actually save you the personnel issues that caused the delay in the first place
--You ride your hero QB when it's obvious that his injury is hampering his game physically and that he just doesn't have it on throws down the field (missing Thompkins and high to Hipp on the first 3rd qtr drive should have been telltale signs) instead of going to a very competent 2nd stringer (who then has the brain fart on the pick 6)
--You fail to adjust to what other teams have been doing to you for the last 4 weeks that have stopped your offense (MSU, IU, Iowa, Michigan all tailored their rush ends to double back into the middle to keep Trace from escaping like he did against Ohio State)

The last month has really exposed Franklin as a fraud of an in-game coach and that 2016 & 17's success were due in large part to a talented group of senior-laden experience as well as a little luck with pulling down so many deep balls/jump balls on offense. I continued to try to give Franklin the benefit of the doubt in 14 and 15 because the depth was still a bit dicey but again, some of the decisions made during the game would go against logic. Today against superior talent, they got pounded on offense because they refuse to run any sort of screen game or swing passes that would keep that pass rush at bay. Put Hamler in the damn backfield and run him on flares to get his speed out there because Sanders is a north-south guy and not a beat-you-around-the-corner runner.

Fortunately, I was at work today and didn't have to watch any more after they went down 21-0. Not sure I'll be all that jazzed to go watch them if they come to Orlando or Tampa for New Year's.

9.5 is our over/under on wins. That’s fair. The question marks aside, I’d lean on the over. Only real game that scares me is OSU, and that’s at home.
They'll blow another game. @michigan if I had to guess
I mean possibly. But outside of that, it’s just great how set for success we are.

Some people just aren’t appreciative enough of the job Coach Franklin has done here. On our way back to blue blood status.

Preseason rankings may be meaningless. But personally, I like this team and our “overrated” coach.
