I’m actually upset we didn’t beat them by more. Their team was garbage and ours was our best team in some years. But no worries, we’ll beat them by 2+ scores again this year and next.

So, where are the Trace haters? The Sporting News names Trace McSorley the top quarterback in the country.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Trace. Without Barkley, he won't have the time and space that he had last year as people were selling out to stop him... that is if we don't have a new RB step up and play lights out as well, which would be best case scenario.

I'm not too concerned about Sanders being a more-than-capable replacement for Barkley. Offensive line is going to have a lot of experience as well as depth, which is something they haven't had in 10+ years. Johnson is going to be a stud at receiver and I'm hoping Polk and one of these freshmen step up to be the field stretchers for JJ to work the middle. Defensive side of the ball is where they mysteries lie but my confidence in this staff has grown to the point that they'll have them more than ready for September. Just don't underestimate Appy State.

9.5 is our over/under on wins. That’s fair. The question marks aside, I’d lean on the over. Only real game that scares me is OSU, and that’s at home.

They'll blow another game. @michigan if I had to guess

I mean possibly. But outside of that, it’s just great how set for success we are.

Some people just aren’t appreciative enough of the job Coach Franklin has done here. On our way back to blue blood status.

Franklin needs to prove he can coach the team to a big win on the road. At Iowa was OK but they shouldn’t have let Iowa keep it that close.

Michigan’s their only big road game this season. Go prove something.

Bagged tickets today for the Indiana game in Bloomington, my first ever true road PSU game (Temple at the Vet doesn’t count).

A piece of unfortunate personal news hit in the world of Penn State football on Wednesday night as true freshman and four-star recruit Nana Asiedu took to Twitter, letting Penn State fans know about a heart condition that will force the him to end his career early.

Asiedu explained that he was diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a heart condition that will force him off of the field. According to the American Heart Association, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy is caused by enlarged heart muscle cells and is a common cause of cardiac arrest in young individuals.

Asiedu showed a lot of promise in high school. 247 Sports ranked the tackle as the third-best player in Virginia in his recruiting cycle and the eighth-best tackle in the country. The Virginia native was part of James Franklin’s strongest recruiting class in his tenure at Penn State.

Franklin and his coaching staff stayed true to Asiedu’s scholarship offer, though, allowing the freshman to continue his education and stay close to team activities throughout his time in Happy Valley.
Feel bad for the kid. Sucks to have your passion taken away from you through no fault of your own. Cool move to honor his scholarship offer.

Edit: and now that I read more stories about medical withdrawals from CFB teams, it seems like most teams do this kind of thing, which is awesome.

No one needs another Hank Gathers situation on their hands. But at least it’s great that he will still be part of the team and on scholarship.

Got Phil Steele’s guide. Thought his assessment on PSU was fair, though I am getting sick of the way Michigan is being overhyped.

Regardless, a lot of our units are ranked among the best in the country by him. That’s incredible especially considering what we lost, but that’s what the blue bloods do - they don’t rebuild, they reload.

Now keep it up and prove we deserve that status, HCJF.
So this is a Pitt thread?

A source says that Temple and Penn State are working on a home-and-home football series. Nothing finalized yet. More to come.

They don't need Pitt, plain and simple. Now don't get me wrong. I want Pitt in the schedule. It's a fun game, but it's not a necessity on PSU's side to play Pitt. There are bigger fish to fry in the B1G east.

Agreed. And I know you don't intend that as a slight against Pitt, but I would imagine most Pitt fans would agree that we are on two different echelons right now. It is what it is.

The big ten east has nothing to do with scheduling this game. It's an OOC game. UPS is choosing the easy way out by playing a team that you're like 50-4 against instead of playing your biggest rival/two P5 teams in some years. They are afraid to schedule two P5 teams, period, and obviously don't give a sht about history/rivalries/tradition, which to me is what makes CFB great. There's no other way to spin it. Just own it.

That's how I would react to Pitt scheduling Temple, too.

It's how I feel about the OOC scheduling in general.
