Gone played in that City Lights record store the day of the show. There were about 10 of us watching them.

I did not...which is the problem.

Gone was Gregg Ginn with a different rhythm section.

It must have been 1986 or 1987 at the HUB ballroom at UPS.

I’m still amused that Bill Rieflin (SWANS, Ministry, NIN, etc) is now in King Crimson.

It was really good. It was at Soldiers and Sailors Hall in 1985 I believe.

Old news but I saw this recently:
King Crimson leader Robert Fripp has settled his differences with former member Adrian Belew, and listed the guitarist as the “Ninth Man” in the current lineup. However, that doesn’t mean there’s any activity planned in the near future.

American Belew fronted the British band from 1981 until 2009, but relations seemed to cool between the pair for reasons that have never been made public. When Fripp announced a new lineup in 2011 Belew was told he wouldn’t return to be part of the project. The “Seven-headed Beast of Crim” was extended to a “double-quartet” earlier this year.

either or, but I wouldn't be like saying you wanted to see the Vivaldi's Four Seasons' first performance.
The only acts that come to mind here are Fair Warning-era Van Halen, and early 80s Queen. I don't think live rock and roll gets better than that.
I stupidly left off Prince from this list.

I saw so many concerts in my late teens and early 20s (Laga/Smalls/the various incarnations of Metropol/Rosebud), so I'll just list a few notable ones:

-Brand New, Finch & the Starting Line at The Upstage
-Fall Out Boy, Mest, Matchbook Romance at Laga
-Metallica, Jerry Cantrell, Days of the New at Star Lake
-Metallica, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Mudvayne, the Deftones at OSU stadium
-Def Leppard & Journey w/ Jeff Scott Soto on vox at Star Lake
-GnR at Heinz Field
-Rolling Rock Town Fair 2000 w/ Fuel and the RHCP
-Rolling Rock Town Fair 2004 w/ Def Leppard, Blink 182, and Sum 41
-Several X Fests
-most Warped Tours from 2001-2008
-Genesis at MSG

I'm looking forward for a chance to see Phil Collins solo before he hangs it up (for good).

As am I...big time early solo/Genesis late 70s-early 80s fan.

That being said, I stumbled across a video from November with his band in their rehearsal space. They sounded great - same cast of characters that he's had forever, plus his son Nic on drums...but Phil looks and sounds tired and old. I guess he slipped and hurt his back over the summer, which required surgery and now he walks with a cane...and is seated for most of the concert. :(

Contrast that with Sting - who is about the same age as Phil - and it's just sad.

I forgot about when I saw Green Day at the IC Light Amphitheater (formerly in the space of the Riverhounds stadium). We were visiting on 4th of July weekend in 2001, and we went with my brother and newlywed wife. It was the first time I felt old at a show; me and my brother were asked several times to lift kids up and throw them on top of the people in front of us. The show was entertaining that way and they did the whole destroy the drum set, light it on fire routine at the end of the show while playing the national anthem. Two months later 9/11 happened and July 4th 2002 my brother had his first girl.
Was that the show The Living End opened?

And now that I really think about it... I saw Rancid on their tour for ...And Out Come the Wolves at Metropol... that would've been what, 96? I was so out of place with that crowd... lol.
Man, that's got to make my "wish you'd seen" list.
