What an amazing show last night.

Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats: Damn they are some great musicians and he is a great front man. Good stuff.

Sturgill Simpson: Great musician, but damn they had it turned up SO loud. It was over the top loud and I had to put earplugs in.

Neil Young: Divine. I waited so long to see him and it was absolutely religious. Ohio, Heart of Gold, Powderfinger (YES!), Rockin in the Free World, etc.. Just a high energy amazing set.

His backing band, Promise of the Real (featuring Willie's sons Lukas and Micah) is fantastic. Lukas in particular sounds just like his father and is a solid frontman in his own right.

Happy to see Willie doing well. Looked and sounded great at 85. Neil came out for On The Road Again and Will the Circle Be Unbroken which was awesome.

One of the coolest moments last night--Neil Young played the opener from After The Gold Rush, Tell me Why. It was only the second time since 1987 it got full band accompaniment. More vids from last night:

My favorite song by NY:

Mumford presale for the show at PPG happening right now. Last year, we were in the pit at Starlake about two or three people back and tickets cost $50. For PPG, the good seats in the lower bowl are $100 + fees. Last row, upper bowl, completely opposite of the stage (as far away as possible) are $42.50 + fees. So, yeah, I'll pass.

Is that normal for a PPG show?

*edit* just noticed there are certain seats in the same lower bowl sections priced $200 because you get a concierge. :face:

Well, just dropped over a grand on four Stones tickets for Lincoln Financial Field next summer. This is a bucket list concert for me, and we will only end up paying half of that amount since we'll find two people to go with us. Sitting up in 202 but towards the lower end of the section.

Ghost is awesome live. Metz was into them a long time, and I finally went to one of their shows with him a few years ago. Songs are so catchy. Stage presence is cool.

Kind of lost a little bit of luster since they "revealed " Papa and there has been some band turnover - but, still good.
Hope they come to the burgh soon. I'll definitely be there.

Huh, just looked up the turnover thing. I didn't realized all that had happened.
May 18th at the Benedum. https://trustarts.org/production/58839
And if you missed that one, they're coming to Youngstown on October 10th. Tickets go on sale this Friday.

In no particular order, but close to chronological order as I can remember.

Winger/either Cinderella or Poison. Slaughter
Nine Inch Nails/Die Warzau
10000 Maniacs
Violent Femmes
fIREHOSE
Clutch
Nirvana/Breeders (I love that this show is on youtube, is in decent quality and even captures the shitty acoustics of the W&M hall that they were playing.)
Survivor and Weird Al. Same county fair in Milwaukee, but on different nights.
Everclear/Fishbone/Weapon Of Choice
Hootie and the Blowfish
Nine Inch Nails/Pop Will Eat Itself
Limp Bizkit/???? (not gonna pretend to remember who opened for them in 1996)
Blue Line Band
two different xFests, which had everything from Jimmie's Chicken Shack, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Green Day to Scott Weiland
Fantomas/Tool
Adema/Disturbed/Drowning Pool
Blue Man Group x3
Nine Inch Nails/Jane's Addiction
Foo Fighters/Mariachi el Bronx
Foo Fighters/Royal Blood
Mayhemfest, which included Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead
Chuck Ragan/Social Distortion
GWAR/Corrosion Of Conformity
Slayer/Anthrax
Slayer/Rob Zombie
Vandals/Pennywise/Bad Religion/Offspring
Galactic Empire/Mac Sabbath
Interrupters/Bad Religion/NOFX
Lamb Of God/Anthrax/Slayer
Cannibal Corpse/Amon Amarth/Lamb Of God/Slayer
Voodoo Glow Skulls/Suicide Machines/OFF!/The Damned/Suicidal Tendencies/Pennywise
Queen
No Parents/Iron Chic/Descendents
I Speak Machine/Gary Numan
Stewart Copeland with Buffalo Orchestra
Circle Jerks/Negative Approach/7 Seconds
Black Tones/Son Rompe Pera/Me First and the Gimme Gimmes

Updated again. Almost forgot I saw Chuck Ragan open for Social D a few years ago and that I saw BMG at PSU thanks to free tickets. Also did some digging and realized it wasn't Poison or Cinderella that I saw.

Updated once again: forgot that a friend of mine got me tix to Drowning Pool/Disturbed in 2001. Also added Clutch. Saw them at a small club outside of Norfolk in late 93/early 94ish. No idea who opened for them.

Updated one more time with post-COVID shows. I one-lined the Jerks show because I actually went to the show, was inside Mr. Smalls, found out 7 Seconds cancelled due to two band members having COVID, and left once I found out 7 Seconds wasn't playing that night. They even left 7 Seconds up on the marquee, but I didn't find out about their cancellation until I was inside. That also explains the lack of merch on the table that night.

I'm in for meet & greet again for Youngstown. Work deadlines be damned! A hearty YAS with extended As and Ss, as the kids say.

I've never used premier but I can tell you VIP is absolutely worth it if it's going to be a crowded show.

I *think* one only holds your spot until a certain time, whereas the other has your spot held no matter what time you show up. The pricier one generally has spots at the front of the lot too, for easier exit.

Oh nice. Have you done VIP before to know what the differences were?

I **** hate Starlake. If you don't have some sort of paid parking, you're screwed.

i honestly cant find anywhere that clearly says what the difference is. i just looked at my receipt from three years ago and it says "Premium Parking | 1 ticket"

Amazing.

Song choice was great though through the first set they seemed to deliberate more than usual. 2nd set had a 23:30 Birds of a Feather that was really tight jamming-wise and had about 4 distinct musical sections. First Split Open and Melt encore since 1991.

Not that I can really keep track of this because of how many little shows and music festivals I go to, but adding a band that I legit have liked for a while now and saw them singularly in a smaller setting: Anberlin. Terrific show.
