What did you play?

Football: Age 7 through 8th grade football
Baseball: Age 7 through Pony League

I played some random rec. league basketball and endless amounts of street hockey. I would have loved to have done the real hockey thing, but that was for rich kids.

I drifted into cross country in HS, as I was tall and skinny and it only cost the price of a new pair of running shoes every year.

Baseball from 7-12
Football from 12-18

Watching my kids enjoy soccer, I wish I had played that instead of baseball.

I played a lot of golf on the 9 hole course in South Park, as I could walk there with a bag of odd numbered clubs + 3 wood + putter.

Good point. My golf game coincided with my ability to drive now that I think about it.

I did one season of T-Ball and found baseball endlessly dull, so I stopped that.

One day of varsity football tryouts, during which I broke a finger (nearly off).

IM volleyball

School didn't have a hockey team until many years after I moved to CA (wasn't even a rink in Altoona until like 2000), but I played with all the guys who went to schools that did have teams. Made 'JV' at Penn State (which was a bit of a joke, cos there was no 'V' at the time). But I couldn't afford to travel, so I only played home games. IM hockey and many concurrent beer leagues, and then ongoing beer leagues up til around 11 years ago when I 'retired'.

Interestingly, I looked up the rates for my old league in LA, and it's now $8,600 for a team (minimum 13 skaters) or $661/skater for up to 20 skaters. Whooooo.

Organized pick-up games for an hour or two once a week for an 8-10 week time frame? It's doable.

A friend invited me to a regular pickup game in South Philly, which involved a lot of nice gentlemen from Mexico. It was a great time, but I chose not to embarrass myself again.

You know I've played a lot of golf
Oh Lord, I've bowled a lot of frames
But I never played nothin'
That would jostle my brain
You know, I've seen a lot of people walkin' 'round
With CTE in their eyes
But the coach he don't care
Ah, if you live or if you die...

Soccer was one game when I was 6. Haven't changed my mind on that one in 29 years.
