A Slice of Cheese

When you were a kid and went shopping with your mom/dad, did you get a slice of cheese when you went by the deli?

The missus and I always did.

In my day my sister and I got a slice of “you two shut the hell up or I will kick your asses right here in this store.”

I wonder how the Yes v. No crowd correlates with the Cheese v. Sex crowd.

With my youngsters, a trip to giant eagle meant a free cookie.

Wasn't that just Pavel Bure vs normal people?

My mother (quite wisely, in retrospect) would usually leave me and my brother in the car if she had to do any grocery shopping while we were along. If a parent did that now they'd probably get arrested for child endangerment. No cheese that I can ever recall.

This was way more normal than I expected it to be. Was expecting a "do you do the classic thing that everyone does and use a slice of cheese as a washcloth" take

I lost track, is this in reference to sex or cheese?

Or: "I put cheese on apple pie."

Our small town didn't have anything remotely resembling a deli, so, no.

Growing up meant Chef Boyardee pizza out of the box with sprinkle cheese and my mom would buy a chunk of cheddar to shred if we were good. Best Pizza to this day, hands down!

 Speaking of Chef Boyardee, a few weeks ago my dad asked my mom if she could find some of that “ old spaghetti that was in a box”.

My daughter still usually gets a slice at the ol' Dutch Way Farm Market, closed Sundays.

Yes. A slice of longhorn colby. And sometimes a cookie from the bakery counter.

Penn Mac will usually give you a slice of cheese if you ask. In some cases, they'll break off a slice and hand it over even if you don't ask.

Our local supermarket will offer kids a slice.

They used to offer kids cookies at the bakery area, but it looks like they've been replaced with free clementines or bananas. My kids love it.
