I will probably get railroaded for it but it's really revisionist for him to act like he wasn't supportive of ABC botching that material.

Looks interesting. The book didn't do much for me. Maybe the movie will be better.

Yeah, the book was very tepid. It wasn't bad, but it just didn't bring me into it at all.

Agree. It was just sort of there.

It'll be interesting to see how Flanagan ties together Kubrick's and King's versions of The Shining.

What did you nerds end of thinking of the Dark Tower movie/shows?

It's been six years since I read the Gunslinger book, I think I am ready to read The Drawing of the Three. I might read them at the same pace they were written. Hearts in Atlantis pulled me back in, I think.

I reread this thread. I was not always a fan of PFiDCs ramblings on life, but his enthusiasm for SK books was a lot of fun. Lots of good memories here.

Under The Dome is still ****.

Dark Tower is one of my favorite series of all time. Started reading it in high school, I remember the 5th through 7th books came out when I was stationed in Alaska and I read them all while underway.

I couldn't help but be disappointed in the ending but I understood it.

The Dark Tower movie is wretched. Just a complete hot mess and I think it would be incomprehensible to anyone who hadn't read the books. Avoid it at all costs.

I loved the books but they're pretty divisive. Even many hardcore King fans don't like them.

Read the DT series about 3 years ago. Gunslinger kind of doesn't fit in with the rest, but I thought they were all great.

So, yeah, Drawing of the Three is way better than I thought it would be. I'm about a third of the way through it and am very surprised by how engaging it is.

I listened to all these on audiobook, and every time I passed a certain point on the turnpike, I'd get a vivid image in my memory of what I imagined the lobstrosities to look like. This happened for a month after I read the book.

I was going to post the cast but I didn't recognize any of the names. Supposedly in theaters in September.

For some reason Salem's Lot never clicked for me, in book/story or film/tv. Maybe I will like this one.

The 'ending' of The Waste Lands was butt. King always does it. Hooks you with an engaging story and then forgets to craft a finish. It is not usually this blatant though.

Are you referring to Book 3 of DT or something else? Genuinely can't tell lol.

The end of book three
where they're on the train and it just...ends. Then he writes a prologue saying 'whoopsie, just ran out of inspiration and sent it to the printer anyway.'
Just annoyed because the story has actually hooked me but that was just a weird, flaccid way to wrap up an otherwise really engaging book.

Ahh yes, that was an annoying finish. And then it took six years for the follow up.

The Kindle version that I bought comes with the first chapter or two of the next book as kind of a make up for how that went.

It didn't bother me as much as I just audiobooked the entire series in succession.
