If they're aiming for a summer release (against the blockbusters) they must be pretty pleased with it.
My expectations are pretty low though.

From the trailer, I'm not a fan of how they appear to be making earth a focus here

a couple cool shots from the trailer...

I've never read the books, but certainly interested.
Is it supposed to be a good interpretation?

It's been a while since I've read the books and I've read that it is supposed to be a different story than the books, this is another timeline after the books finished. It's similar, but I also feel like it's a cheap excuse to do something different that I'm not sure anyone wanted.

It's pretty much impossible to tell the Dark Tower story in the books via feature films, so I can understand the changes. I just find it all rather pointless.
I'm not expecting much. I'm much, much more excited about the new adaptation of IT.

Glen Mazzara has been hired as the show director for The Dark Tower TV show, which will now be completely independent from the movie, likely because the movie sucks.

http://www.slashfilm.com/all-59-stephen ... es-ranked/In honor of the many new King adaptations, I decided to do something really scary. I’ve gone back and ranked every single Stephen King film. Here are the rules I stuck to: films and miniseries only, and no sequels unless the sequel in question was a direct adaptation of something King wrote (i.e. Creepshow 2). So, sorry Children of the Corn sequel fans, only the initial Corn adaptations will be here. Without further ado, let’s rank the film adaptations of Stephen King.

I closed the window when he put The Langoiliers in the bottom 5. **** that noise.

Not a terrible list. I would have The Dark Tower close the bottom, along with Bag of Bones. I'd rank Green Mile higher. I've seen every movie on that list. I don't know what that says about me...

I really like Gerald's Game. Not sure I want to watch it as a movie.

Amazon giving The Dark Tower series a test. Sounds like they are starting with Wizard and Glass

A glitch in the matrix!
I saw the pics of the actors cast, and I thought they'd make a decent Eddy and Jake. No, they're Roland and tMiB. Not off to a good start.

Yeah, I glanced over the "Wizard and Glass" part of it. They'll still have to do a decent makeup job on the kid if they want him to be Roland. Even as a teenager, I imagine him being hardened and looking years older than he really is.
