Somebody will give him what he wants.

But he should be careful this year. It may not be as likely that his demands will be met if he stumbles a bit due to the lack of training camp/practice like last year.

Lots of diff ways to look at this, yeah his demands are ridiculous, but losing him would suck. People who say “oh we won with Willie Parker, Pats won with RBs by committee” well those teams had way better defenses.

In the short “window” we have with Ben/prime AB, having Bell is the best bet to win now. We’re not gonna get that great inside linebacker, safety, whatever to eat up the cap that Bell would otherwise occupy until after that window has closed. And I’m not saying pay Bell... sadly, given Bell’s demands, it is what it is. Better for the long-term and life after Ben I’d say.

And all due respect to Conner, he’s a great story, just don’t trust him as an every down starter or honestly even as a RB2. Not very good at blocking, injury prone and has an antiquated style that works way better in college.

"those teams had way better defenses." - Not signing Bell gives them a chance to get an FA to better their defense. Even with Bell this year, they're a long-term LB injury away from it being a waste of a year anyway.

Have there been any reports on the amount guaranteed on the 5 year/70mm that is being reported?

Have there been any reports on the amount guaranteed on the 5 year/70mm that is being reported?
According to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport, the contract included $33 million in guaranteed money, which was going to be paid out over the first two years. Rapoport also noted that the first three years of the deal would pay out $45 million (or $15 million per season), but didn't note if all of that money was guaranteed.
This was what he was offered last season:
#Steelers' offer to Le'Veon Bell averaged over $12M per, with $30M in first 2 years, $42M over 3, per sources. Decided to play on $12.1M tag
So the Steelers upped the guaranteed money and total value over the first three seasons while also adding more money to the last two seasons.

Edit: Devonta Freeman's deal was $41.25MM over 5 years with $22.047 guaranteed. Shady's was $40MM over 5 years with $18.25MM guaranteed. Somehow Jerick McKinnon's contract with the 49ers is $30MM over 4 years with $18MM guaranteed. The only other RBs with contracts in that realm are Fournette ($27.15MM, 4 years, 100% guaranteed) and Elliott ($24.96MM, 4 years, $24.51MM guaranteed), but those are special cases because rookie deals feature a ton of guaranteed money.

The Steelers contract offer to Bell is unprecedented for the position. Thankfully he's a dolt.

I hope Bell helps the steelers win the SB this year, and then I don't care.

Steelers got his prime years without having to give up anything in the future, money-wise. It's a win, personally.

Adisa Bakari, the agent for Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell, said in an interview on ESPN Tuesday afternoon the Steelers did not offer enough guaranteed money to sign his client to a long-term contract.

“The Steelers have a unique way of structuring deals,” Bakari said. “These contracts are not fully guaranteed. Le’Veon plays a position that has one of the shortest lifespans in the league. We have to focus on the guarantee. It’s safe to say he’ll get a guarantee [as a free agent] that is more traditional, and he’ll be protected for the balance of his career.”

This. He’s made an impact in what - one postseason thus far? Had big games against Miami and KC, got injured early in the New England game and that was that.

As far as being able to sign an impact defensive player with that money, right away, while we still have prime Ben/AB? Yeah, idk. Plus we’ll need another RB.

It sure would be funny if the Steelers don’t win this year, everyone says “that’s it, window has closed” Bell leaves, but they win it all next year somehow anyway.

Since we all love anecdotes with RBs - Tiki Barber rushes for over 1800 and over 1600 yds the two seasons prior to his retirement, and the Giants won the Super Bowl after he retired.

Raise your hand if you'd be shocked if Bell requested to be on the cover of Madden 19 as part of any contract extension.

I actually think the Jealousy story might have some legs to it. Bell out here trying to be a rapper and all AB has to do is smile to get what he wants.

Bell is probably really butthurt about it.

Bell's just incompetent. He's arguably the best back in the league, so it's not like he has nothing to hang his hat on. He's currently the highest paid RB in the league, and was offered an even more lucrative deal, which he turned down. I've defended him, because he's crazy talented and a massive offensive weapon anywhere he lines up, but I won't be sorry to see him go when he does.

Except from everything I've heard and read AB knows when to drop the fun and get to work. I haven't seen anything other than him being the hardest working person on the team. He might be too flamboyant for some but the he's on the opposite end of the spectrum from Bell in terms of work ethic.

**** those people, too. I don't give a **** if he dances like nobody's watching. All that matters is that he produces on the field, which he unquestionably does. Every. Single. Game.

Sure - it had nothing to do with Football really. AB gets the endorsements, TV time, etc. Bell gets, Instagram videos and people lying to him about his music being good.
