Rome Industries is the gold standard for mountain pie irons, IMO. You can get them on Prime.

I’m not sure if they makes aluminum ones....avoid those, you want cast iron. I like the double pie iron from Rome. It also works as mini skillets.

C palmer is the place in west newton that makes them.

I had one for a long time but it melted over the fire one day. I kept it stored when not camping in a shed with a lot of dramatic temperature changes so i'm not sure if it melted because of improper storage or crappy design.

If you melted a pie iron it was almost certainly made from aluminum.

I'm hosting a bachelor party the first weekend in Oct up in Saint Mary's. We rented a cabin out. Friday's meals will be mountain pies, and I've always wanted to invest in a decent iron. Thanks. I will be getting the Rome double one.

Odd destination for a bachelor party.

Disagree. St. Mary's is a perfect place for 5af's version of #MACtion

We rented an old sportsman's club. It's gonna be great. 100 yard rifle range, dual lighted horseshoe pits, pavilion with fireplace attached. L I T

Hit up Straub's while you're up in St. Mary's. Some decent golf courses up there too, if you're into that.

Yep, we have a tour reserved at the brewery Saturday. Not sure about golf. I like it but the bachelor isn't a fan, and it's his weekend so..

Straub just completely renovated their brewery and taproom. It just reopened like a month ago. Looks pretty nice. They’ve gotten somewhat adventurous with their new beers too.

Really? Interesting. When my mom and stepdad visited there about 6-7 years ago it was pretty basic. I just took a look at their website....impressive!

Shot a 7-point buck this morning. Would have had more, but it's right hand tyne was broken halfway up.

Got it right in the throat, broke its neck and severed the windpipe. Dropped right there.

I grew up near Walnut Creek, and went all the time when I was young. It wasn't like it is today. Back in the 80's, it'd often be just a few guys on a good hole and we'd catch more Coho salmon than steelhead. When it started getting crazy elbow to elbow in the early 90's, I stopped going.
