Fall Run Park off Rt. 8 in Shaler was renovated nicely. Went there for the first time over the weekend and had a short 1.5mi walk. It's very curated but it's a nice little escape for how close it is to everything. The falls are impressive for the location. I look forward to walking it in the winter.

A great little hike for our kids. The falls are neat, but somebody is going to get injured if they don't put signage up. Tons of kids climb halfway up to the bottom of the falls, but the rocks are very slippery. I took a spill trying to climb up, and somebody had their feet slip from under them when wading in the mini pool below.

Yeah, the top of the falls is pretty accessible as well with no real signage. I like it that way, but then I don't have toddlers either.

It all kind of reminds me of Adams Falls at Linn Run.

Or Cucumber Falls in Ohiopyle

I don't mind no signage up top either. Unless you have a death wish, most people will steer clear. The bottom is very inviting. I actually don't mind if people climb up, but there should be signage to warn that it is slippery. But you know what will happen. One kid will break his/her arm, and the thing will have an iron gate around it the next day.

Source of the post Nice pic. You made me start to read about the Allegheny River. It's really amazing how huge it is in actuality.
that pic is actually of the Allegheny Reservoir (Kinzua lake), but yeah to your point

from a recent trip there a couple weeks ago. It's crazy that people mess around in the water up above.

That looks like Cucumber Falls, but for some reason I thought it was much higher.

The Allegheny islands state park is uninhabited and only accessible by boat
I could never quite figure out *why* that is a state park. Is it because of the nearby lock/dam?

Yeah I mean the whole thing seems totally pointless lol. It's cool to say that there are river islands due to the glacial melting or whatever but to call it a state park which less than 1% of the population can access seems totally pointless.

I will never, ever understand the need to ruin a video that would actually be interesting with the real sound with some shtty metal/rap/techno garbage that nearly blasts my speakers out when I first start the video.

Nice. I had to look that up as I’ve never heard of it. I’ve camped in Seneca rocks, which was fun. Might have to look into Dolly Sods for next year.

This must have been quite the conversion. Perhaps pbp can elaborate...

We'll be in Lake Placid Saturday and Sunday nights. After watching the PBS documentary on the Adirondacks, I'm pretty excited. Going to make for a very slow work week.
