NTP66's thread of IT
Probably a longshot, but does anyone have any experience with taking an old iPhone and using it like an iPod? I use my current employer issued iPad for mostly streaming video, but also for our family recipe organizer. The app we use is not available on Android or Mac, so we're kind of screwed unless I get another iPad or get this iPhone to setup.
We have a much passed down iPhone 5C (my wife -> DGII -> DGIII) running iOS 10.3. It powers up, but won't allow me to login to my Apple ID. It says Verification failed. It was a Verizon phone, so it does the same with sim card in or out. I do have it plugged into my Windows PC with iTunes and it is detecting the phone properly.
I've googled it, and it seems to be a date/time issue - but I can't do anything other than the setup loop. Pick a language, then country, then wifi, then the Apple ID page. Can't get into Settings. Can't attempt to reset password or switch to a different Apple ID. My wifi is working for other devices, including my Pixel 3 and iPad. So it's not a connection issue.

DG: Try searching Apple's forum. Gotta think there's a way to correct that.
I used to dabble in Exchange long ago, but I doubt I'd be of any help these days.

I'll throw it out there and see if anything sounds familar. Odds are that it's a setting on the Exchange side, which obviously I can't do anything about.
So currently we are running Outlook with two different accounts. One account is our former business name, and a second with the new name. Emails sent to the older account will get routed to the new account but not vice versa.
I have a user that can send emails from either account without any issue as long as there isn't an attachment. When he adds an attachment in the new account, it shows an OU Admin path and the email gets sent from his old account. When it arrives to the user, it's from his new account. Although not really an issue for the recipient, this user who pointed it out to me like to keep the items in his sent folder as a receipt, which I totally get.

Yeah, I fixed it. I was being dumb. Just skip the login process by trying to recover password or create a new account. Then change the time manually, then sign in to your AppleID.
All of which was moot because the app doesn't work on iOS 10.3. Ugh.

Best Buy can get **** for this practice. Same goes for scalpers like the Canaan referenced in the article: https://www.pcmag.com/news/199-totaltec ... m-best-buy

I've been on W11 for a few weeks now and have had to do hard reboots a number of times. Today, I can't change the brightness on the laptop screen for some reason. Anyone else having issues? I know it's still beta.

It's been GA for a while now, though there are plenty of bugs to be sorted out. I have it installed in a VM, but rarely use it.

Dell computer won't boot up. Get a solid yellow light and tried the different things mentioned.
It's a dell inspiron 3650. Any idea if power supply replacement is easy. I'm thinking the power supply went because it doesn't even cycle to boot.

I can’t speak to that particular computer, but I’d be shocked if you couldn’t replace the PSU with a replacement part using nothing but a Phillips screwdriver, possibly a socket hex.

Welp, my daughter's Surface Pro 4's on its way out. After years of minimal use, it's now displaying issues after playing a game on it for 30 minutes, where the screen shakes constantly as it heats up. Sounds like this was a known issue on this model.
Gonna see if I can snag an SP7+ on eBay to replace it.

I was surprised how simple the case was and how well managed the cables were. Always nice when things work out like that. Definitely beats replacing the entire unit!I was surprised how simple the case was and how well managed the cables were. In other news, yesterday reminded me why I got out of ops and can never go back. My mom called to see if I could fix something for her. Since she couldn’t figure out how to give me control, I tried walking her through the steps.

Look at your mouse cursor, it’s literally hovering right below it
“I have no idea where to go”
JESUS **** CHRIST YOU ARE LITERALLY HOVERING OVER IT RIGHT NOW
“Oh okay… <proceeds to right-click instead>

The next time you visit them, install AnyDesk on their PC. Then you can remote in and fix whatever's going on with it in the future.

Doesn't windows have something built in to do that? Remote Assistance or something like that? The next time you visit them, install AnyDesk on their PC. Then you can remote in and fix whatever's going on with it in the future.
I'll be visiting SC in April and want to get something like this set up on their PC while I'm there.

Yes, there is Remote Desktop which usually works fine. I've used it on an iPad on one of my PCs. AnyDesk seems to stay connected more consistently. I was also using it on my work PC (which is heavily locked down by my previous employer), whereas Remote Desktop was disabled by IT.

This is her work machine, so no luck there. I have TeamViewer installed on her home PC and my dad's laptop for this very reason. The next time you visit them, install AnyDesk on their PC. Then you can remote in and fix whatever's going on with it in the future.

Just looked it up and remote assistance does still exist in win10 but you still need someone there at the host computer to allow the person to gain access. Remote Desktop doesn't work on a host that is win10 home.
Team Viewer is like RDP? How do you know what IP to connect to?

Getting my parents to do an ipconfig and read me one of those IP's could be a support session by itself.

With TeamViewer, each device has a unique ID. You enter that ID when attempting to connect to it.
W10 RDP is the same as it ever was. No local person required to login remotely.

Right, but you can't have it on a host that is windows Home. With TeamViewer, each device has a unique ID. You enter that ID when attempting to connect to it.

Well, TeamViewer is free, and I recommend it.
