Fight me. I've been waiting for the Zen-based APUs to come out in order to build my next Linux box.It is, yes. That said, their chips are still going to outperform AMD’s garbage.
(That said, my gaming rig contains an overclocked Intel Core i5.)

Intel CEO sold $24m of his shares before a serious design flaw was made public
In late 2017, Brian Krzanich, who has been chief executive of Intel since May 2013, sold as much stock as he was contractually allowed. Executives routinely sell stock, but this move caused some suspicion at the time for just how much stock Krzanich sold.
Months later, news broke that two massive security flaws had been found in variety of computer chips — with Intel's hardware being under particular scrutiny.
The timing here is crucial. The security flaw was first discovered by Google researchers, who told Intel about the problem in June, according to a statement Intel gave to Business Insider.
Then, in November, Krzanich sold off $39 million of stock for a tidy profit of $25 million, according to CNBC.

@meow: Did you ever upgrade your router? If so, which one did you go with, and how is it working for you?

I'm trying to pull some data from some old HDs. One is currently listed as "System Reserved" and when I click on it, it shows no files even though 60gb/100 are used. Any suggestions on how to get around this?

I think this might help
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/win ... 86b?page=2The missing files are in fact there but are hidden from view. By default Windows hides system files, folders and drives. You must manually change system settings to actually view what's hidden from sight but accounted for in space usage.
In the Control Panel's tool bar (File Edit View Tools Help) click on TOOLS then in the drop down menu click on FOLDER OPTIONS. A new Folder Options window will open. Click on the VIEW tab (second tab). About a third of the window down you'll see a box entitled Advanced settings.
The first category is entitled Files and Folders, the second category is entitled Hidden files and folders. Select the second option: 'Show hidden files, folders and drives'. In the same category go down to the fourth checkbox: Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) and UNCHECK that box. You may get a warning from windows, disregard it for now. Hit Apply then OK on the bottom of the window. You should now be able to see the actual folders that were hidden from view before and just their size was shown. This accounts for so much space being taken up and why there were no visible files or folders to account for the used space.
After you resolve your problem please reverse the changes I had you make.

The System Reserved partition is for boot files, config data, etc.; it’s not meant to be accessible to the end user. You can remove this partition, but only after a series of steps that involves changing the boot files and a number of other steps. Unless you’re comfortable with this possible boot-preventing change, I’d avoid going that route.I'm trying to pull some data from some old HDs. What I’d like to know is how the hell a 60GB partition was created for that purpose. I’m thinking that this may just be a label and not actually the partition I’m referring to. Download and install WinDirStat. It’s a great utility for showing you a breakdown of all files on your box.

The HD was the C drive on my last computer. Right now, nothing is showing under file explorer. It's a 1T drive so something funky is going on. It worked the last time I used that PC (within the last 6 months) so I'm not sure what's up. I'll check out WinDirStat.

I turned off the drive, unplugged it, plugged it back in and turned it back on and now everything is showing up. Weird.

Verizon battery back up unit has been beeping saying I need to replace the battery. I don’t need the battery at all so reading up online, I saw that you can simply disconnect it. So I did that. Well, now I got no internet. Rebooted the system a bunch as per their tech support online, called support and he did his thing on their end rebooting stuff, had me reboot again, reset the modem. Everything. Still nothing. The earliest a tech can come out is Friday. That’s insane.
Any ideas on things I can try in the meantime? Phone support said they can see the system and ping it but for some reason it’s not connecting with the modem (red light plus the WAN lights are off in the back)
Oh and ps I plugged the battery back in and it no longer says I need to replace. System status on the main unit is green and connected.

Sounds like a bad install if nothing is working. The BBU is only really needed for home phone service. You can try bouncing the ONT (the box your BBU is connected to) if you haven’t done so since reconnecting the BBU, and then do the same for the router.
NTP66's thread of IT
It was working fine til I unplugged the ONT. Friend of a friend installs for Fios and said a tech needs to open up the outside box to do get power back to the ONT in the garage. I guess mine is pretty old. Maybe they’ll replace the whole unit.Sounds like a bad install if nothing is working. The BBU is only really needed for home phone service. Sucks that I’m without internet until Friday.

Huh? Why would you need to access the box outside for power? You must have a very odd setup, because all of my ONTs have had AC plugs inside the house. It was working fine til I unplugged the ONT. If you’re on an old Motorola ONT, do everything that you can to have Verizon replace it with the newer model (smaller, thinner black box). It’s stable as hell in comparison.
NTP66's thread of IT
There is power inside. That’s what I unplugged when I initially removed the battery. According the Fios dude a tech needs to “Pull the power off the ONT and reprovision it then put the power back on.”

Gotcha. Sucks that it’s out right now, but if it helps get to off a dated BPON ONT, so be it.
NTP66's thread of IT
What’s the advantage to a new ONT? Should I push for that?
