Sure, if you're using your laptop in a dock or something. But it's unrealistic for most laptop use cases. And Alienware really does have a superior keyboard.

Not being able to change my modem via the Xfinity website is real annoying. I believe the current one that is on my account died today, have owned it for ~6 years. I should just be able to edit the s/n or Mac on my account but since I own it I likely have to call.

It’s been a while, but they did used to allow you to add your own modem online, but the form to do so wasn’t exactly easy to find.

Spectrum makes you call or use the chat service to activate a new modem. Boo.

I think we've reached peak meta maybe...?

One of our - ahem, advanced age - employees reported the phishing training email as spam and then submitted an IT ticket notifying us of said email...

My favorite one was one that we had from a new employee. She actually started getting a bit animated at me (not yelling, but was definitely louder than her normal voice) because she got one disguised as a "click here to view your voicemail" and was confused how somebody had her number already.

I started getting the speech of "this isn't fair. You can't do that to a new employee. How am I supposed to know a phishing email is coming in during my first week here?" Yeah, that's the entire point of it. :face:

Got my internet working. Comcast is the biggest joke of a company. My apartment has two coax inputs, one in the living room and one in a bedroom. I have been in this apartment for 4 years and have always used the one in the living room, the one in the bedroom never worked. On a whim I tried the one in the bedroom and the internet is back to normal. So now if I want to use the full capabilities of my network I'll have to re-arrange my whole apartment so I can have my PC hardwired to my router. What a joke, and I likely purchased a new modem that wasn't necessary.

It may be easier for you to run CAT5e along the baseboard - pressed under the trim and above the carpeting, if you have it - from where it is now to where the router is now location. I would look at that first if you prefer that location.

I can't believe that scalpers are still grabbing up all of the RTX stock. I've got a Keepa alert on Amazon for a 3060, and within 5 minutes they're all sold out. An hour later, 3rd party listings show up in the $850 range (card is $395 through Amazon). I don't particularly need a new GPU, so I can hold out longer than these clowns.

A buddy of mine landed a 6700XT back in May for $800. He just won a Newegg contest of some sort, with the prize being a 3080ti. Unbelievable luck, this guy. He sold the 6700XT in about ten minutes for $900.

Yeah, even though I have an AMD build now, their GPUs are just overkill for me. I'll stick with a 3060 when I can find one.

Is there a good website to create QR codes if you have a URL link? I've found on chrome it's easy, but it has the stupid little dinosaur in the middle. Other websites i've gone to are jam packed with ads and I don't want to click on the wrong thing and give my work computer a virus.

I've used https://www.qrcode-monkey.com in the past.

@nocera: Do you use Adobe Premiere? How is it to work with? I’ve used PowerDirector for years, but am not terribly impressed. Color correction isn’t great, and I think the software is more limited than others. This would be for personal videos, so nothing professional.

I do. I’ve never used PowerDirector so I can’t really compare the two but if you’ve ever used a NLE, they all kind of use the same basic ideas. Color correction is pretty good. I’m able to get by most of the time just correcting in Premiere. If I want a more specific look, however, I’ll move over to DaVinci Resolve. The nice part of Premiere is how well it works with other CC software like After Effects and Photoshop. It wouldn’t be too hard to learn the basics. I can lend a hand when needed too.

I’m trying to envision a scenario in which I’d want the Photoshop transition? Trying to color correct underwater footage from vacation this year was the last straw for me. I know it’s difficult to begin with, but PD just did a poor job. It’s also slow as hell.
