I'm not sure iCloud works the way you want it to - but I've only used it to save contact info and pictures for an iPad and iPhone, not music.

I would look into something like Plex, which is free, media server software. I use it for TV and movie streaming, but it does work with music files. They do have a cloud option, but I've never used it.

If you've got downloaded mp3's, simply sync all of them to your Apple devices using iTunes.

So remember back to my internet being sh*t? I found out what happened: wife spilled gatorade into cable modem. It wasn't on purpose, just an accidental spill, but she failed to mention it to me. She said she powered it off right away, and then it wouldn't power back up for a while, but eventually it did power back up so she figured everything was fine.

Went and bought a new modem, will give it a shot tonight.

On the bright side, the dude at best buy was great. I explained my internet situation and he pretty much straight up told me to get the cheapest modem they had because anything more would just be overkill. Didn't try to upsell me to the $200 fancy non-sense I don't need, which is a blast of fresh air from a best buy person.

So the new modem was working better than the old modem, but I still wasn't getting the speeds I was supposed to get and it would rev up to 25 mbps from time to time, and then sometimes down to <0.5 mbps, mostly it'd chill around 4-5, while I'm paying for 25. So finally broke down and contacted comcast. They fixed it in about an hour. Just had to adjust some of my settings on their end. Why do they not do this when I install the stuff and start my service?

I'm upgrading to FIOS' Gigabyte service and was told October 6th is the earliest they can get to me.

I hope it's worth it.

What line are you referring to here? I assume it's a CAT5e/6 run from the ONT to the router? If so, that charge is ridiculous. Most techs would run the damn thing for you for free.

I'm not tech savvy, but they say they need to run a new line capable of handling that speed.

If you all tell me it's BS, I'll cancel the order.

I currently have their 75/75 service. We have two kids with laptops and cell phones and we have a desktop and then the wife and I have phones as well that are connected to the wifi. On top of that we do a lot more streaming to our TV via a FireStick.

They shouldn't have to run anything from the outside service to your ONT, so my guess is that they're running Ethernet cable from your ONT to your router, which is 100% required (anything above 75/75 requires it). It just sucks that they're charging you $150 to do so. The last Verizon tech that was at my house ran that line for free, and then left me about 900' of CAT5e to use so that I could wire up the rest of my house.

Eight years of Windows 7, and I only just realized today (by accident, no less) that you can use Start+tab to cycle open programs, similar to alt+tab.

Yep, that’s the one. Change all of the default ports, disable the web ports (unless it’s a feature that you really want), and use passwords for viewing and controlling). It’s lightweight and works wonders over slow networks, too.

I RDP to a laptop connected to my TV/stereo and the last time I tried TightVNC/RealVNC (a few years now) they were much slower that RDP.

TightVNC does a great job with compression, and one item I would always set is to disable the target’s wallpaper.
