Never heard of either. Based on screenshots alone, osTicket looks more polished.

Seems this issue disappeared as mysteriously as it appeared... Bug fixed by a Chrome update?

At any rate, it's been a few days since this occurred, so hopefully that is over.

So Mrs Tif left her laptop at a Starbucks on Thursday. She was able to retrieve it with no issues on Friday, but by that time the battery had drained out. Since then she can't logon and access the device. Literally can't get past the blue screen with the username and password stuff. We've tried WiFi and plugged directly into the modem; hard and cold booting; removing the battery; resetting the router; all no good.

The error message that comes up is:
There are no logon servers available to service the logon request.
The Google Box says this is a Windows thing, not something unique to her company/network. Something about a WINS database and NetBIOS. All the solutions I see online talk about changing this or that value on the machine, but we can't actually get past the logon screen to do anything. Ordinarily I'd just let her IT people sort this out, but she has to travel for work on Monday for some pretty big meetings, and her IT people have engaged Useless Mode for the weekend, despite their 24/7 on-call status. If anyone has any idea wtf this is and how to fix it, and would be willing to share said fix, I'll send you an uneaten hat for your trouble.

I’m assuming that she has logged into this laptop before, no? If so, her credentials should already be cached, allowing her to login to the laptop offline. Of course, there may be a corporate policy preventing this if she works for idiots.

Any chance she has the local Administrator password? If so, try that one. If she recently changed her password, have her try the old one.

I don’t think there’s much you can do here without having a local account password to get into the OS. Even safe mode will be useless.

Our public Win 7 PCs do this when there are network issues on campus. We usually have to keep rebooting to clear it.

Maybe try to boot in safe mode?

Her IT contacted her first thing this morning, and had he go through a whole bunch of press-this, click-there, enter-this-password, stuff. After about 40 minutes, she was able to log in successfully, about three hours before her flight....

...only to arrive at the meeting location and see that the group of reps that were tasked with doing a Shark Tank-style presentation showed up with a 17-slide deck for their allotted three minutes. lol

Any insight into Adblock Mobile for iOS? https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/adblock ... 34569?mt=8

It uses a VPN to reroute the data and block ads. There's also an option to turn on a trust certificate which supposedly blocks ads in more apps including YouTube, Spotify, Instagram, etc.

This being a free app, my inclination is that they make their money selling personal data of their users. Anyone know if this app is "safe?"

So one my PCs, an older gaming/media server, boots to a login screen and then a black screen for my profile. There is a mouse cursor, and I can CTRL-ALT-DEL and get to the task manager etc. But no desktop. All of the background programs are running normally, like Plex etc. My son can login to his profile without any issues.

Probably something is corrupted with my profile's graphics drivers, so I'll have to figure out how to get into safe mode to remove and update the drivers (for an old Radeon 6950). But it's weird that my son's profile doesn't have any issues...

Noticed that GPU prices are down (some). Might pick that PC up a 1050ti for $200 from Amazon to replace the replacement 6950 that replaced the dead 270x.

I looked into it after dodint mentioned it, but decided not to use it because of the VPN aspect. It's probably fine, but I don't want all of my traffic routed through them.

Philosophically, what's the difference between stripping the ads from the NHL App and just going to r/nhlstreams and watching it there?

I paid for NHL.tv so I don't feel bad when I use r/nhlstreams

I used the NHL app for the individual goal highlights. It was convenient until ads started popping up on every video. Haven't had a need for r/nhlstreams during the playoffs since every game has been streamed on the NBCSN app.

We decided to move away from dedicated local ticketed support and switched to an enterprise disbursement scheme. Everyone on the team is now served tickets in a round robin fashion so everything is load balanced. Individuals used to get 3-4 a day or 20 a day based on the tempo of their district.

Now everyone gets 8-10 a day and the salt being produced by those that used to get 3-4 is so delicious.

If it's automated, that's a terrific way to prevent people from cherry picking the easiest of tickets. We have a guy who volunteers to handle our ticket queue for the rest of us, which we all appreciate.

No, it's not automated. But the tickets are allegedly assigned strictly in order.

There is a rotating roster of assigners. Every two hours the assigner changes, logs into the system, distributes the tickets. Then two hours later someone else does it. We hope to move to a more automated system in the future, but we can't because of staffing considerations (can't assign to folks that are on vacation, sick, etc).

The 'old' way was you would have one assigner a day that logged in and assigned tickets based on which person was at what district. But it got messy because of vacations, call-offs, etc. This new way is nice in that it eliminates the need for back-ups; so long as they don't assign a ticket to someone that is out of the office.

Why would my PC, after 4 years, begin to downclock my DRAM frequency?

I started playing a game again last week that I knew played pretty well on that PC. Low FPS on all settings. It had been a few years since I had wiped it and put a clean install of Win 10 on there, so I did that and still had the same problem. After some digging around, I checked the DRAM frequencies and saw that they were downclocked. I know when I built the PC back in 2015 that I enabled XMP and set the clocks to the advertised speed...because the game had run really well back in 2016 (it’s BF1) and early 2017.

I suppose the BIOS could have updated itself and reset the settings? It’s a MSI GA970A-G43. So weird.

I don’t see how that would change unless you recently updated your BIOS and it reset your settings. I could see it if the RAM settings were on auto, but not if you manually changed them. Do the settings stick if you change them back now?
