On further look it seems like my O365 credentials are completely missing. I'm seeing that my office apps are not activated.
Yeah, sounds like you need to speak to your O365 team to have them check on licensing, though that wouldn't explain why Teams is working.

I can tell you what files and registry keys to delete if you'd like to test it out on your own, so let me know. I have a PowerShell script that I published in the Start menu for users to fix their own **** so they don't have to call me.

Edit: It's similar to the RepairTeams script I sent you a while back.

If you can send the script over I'll give it a try. TIA

PM'd. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out. If you manage to break Outlook even further, delete the script and call your help desk.

my IT department couldn't be bothered to change the email address for a phishing "training" email, the email address was "service.desk@phishingtraining.com"

We have one dude here who complains about the phishing training and having to use Mimecast, but he had his account compromised at least twice since I've been here. One of those times is how we ended up with Mimecast.

So there's a lot of lip biting when I go into his office and hear him rant about training this and Mimecast that.

Is there any reason why an 8 port ethernet switch would be 1/2 the price of a 5 or 6 port switch? Is there a particular model of switch I should stay away from?

If the 8 port switch is unmanaged while the others are managed, sure. I’m a big TP-Link fan for switches. No reason to look at another brand.

I have both managed and unmanaged TPL switches, and unless you want to separate ports in different VLANs, you really don’t need managed.

So apparently, I can't get into my ISP router's admin page. I have access to an app that can forward ports, but it's not optimal. Using my own equipment is not an option, although I am using an AC-68 as a port (for now). If I can't forward ports properly, sailing the High Seas might get tough.

You mentioned Mullvad, which looks straightforward to use with OpenVPN. Do I need to use WireGuard? That looks a little more user intensive.

I don’t use OpenVPN because it sucks for bandwidth. WireGuard is stupid easy to configure, and if you wanted to pay for a month of Mullvad to test it out (my recommendation), I can give help you with the config. The key for torrents is to a) use a quality client (qBitTorrent, end of list), and b) configure the client to only use the Mullvad interface. That way you never accidentally download something before connecting to the VPN.

I watched their test video and it seemed like a lot of code. But I'm tired and didn't really read any of the documentation on WireGuard. But once the dust settles, I'll take a look at it again with a little more gusto.

Lol, long story short, you literally select the connection you want on mullvad’s side, and click the download link to grab the config file, then import it into the client. There’s some other stuff, but I know you’ll be able to handle it. I already wrote myself instructions on how to do all of this, so I can probably just send you that and you’d be good,

@DigitalGypsy66: Here's an example of an average download using WireGuard. This is on a FiOS gigabit connection.

Readers ITT, what download speed do you get?

78.58 Mbps on the wifi and when I hard wire to the router it doesn't seem to get any better.

I used http://speedtest.net for this test.

I'm on wifi and I just tested and got around 500 down/350 up and I'm two rooms away from the router. I'm also on Fios Gigabit.

If I hardwired in I'd probably be close to NTP, but I'm too lazy to go plug in, and everything is on wifi in our house anyways.

I get around 500/500. My router tests itself each morning. Pretty cool.

Still can't access the router admin page, although the app works pretty well. My port forward settings aren't carrying through to my media server either. I'm wondering if it's because that PC is directly wired to my old Asus router which was used as an access point on my old network. If so, I won't be able to change anything with it until I get the ethernet run and use a switch instead of the old access point.

It says that router supports 700 down, so who knows. If you have speeds that slow hardwired, I'd have Comcast replace the router since they own it. You could try buying a router on Amazon and seeing if that resolves it, knowing that you'd likely be able to return it for a full refund if not.

I checked and there are two connections on the router and I changed it to the other one and now am getting 400/24. I wonder why the upload is so slow?

Perhaps one of the ports is bad?
