We are attempting city, but I guess our price point and location is quite competitive. So we have to waive basically everything to even get an offer accepted.

I want to be able to walk places. I hate driving and don't want to buy a second car. The burbs are out for me.

That's true. We just have to hope we find a place by the end of our lease or we will have to find a new place to rent, which would mean multiple moves with a dog and baby and a lot of stuff

The burbs have good schools though. I grew up in Wenham, and my dad would ride the train in to Boston. About 50 minutes and now $300 for a monthly ticket. Cheaper than a car payment, insurance, and parking for sure. But yeah. Still need a car out there to do anything unfortunately...and the houses are ridiculously expensive. We lived in the house my grandfather built in 1940. My grandparents sold it to my parents for $30K in 1973 when they retired and moved to Florida; my parents sold it in 1987 for $235K in 1987 when we moved to Pittsburgh. The house is now worth $900K according to Redfin.

That's where generational wealth comes from. And why I have grave concerns about the generations younger than us who can't afford to own their own homes.

The burbs around Boston that have good schools are just as expensive to buy. It's all just frustrating.

Prices will stay high but you'll actually get it instead of the realtors?

Also realtors will now need a third job.
