There was a major hiccup in our process because our realtor did botch some stuff. But when i got with the lender directly, I was able to upload all the necessary documents in one night to finalize the approval, and they were even able to push up the closing date.I started the mortgage process with USAA but ultimately ended up going locally as TL mentioned. The rate was good and the processor was helpful. When I closed my mortgage in WI the closing took an extra two hours because the mortgage department at USAA took that exact moment to have a division team building exercise and literally nobody was in the office to sign off.

do you have a realtor selected yet? I mean, when I looked at houses, I got pre approved through the guy the realtor recommended. its not like the realtor is going to kick you to the curb w/o a pre approval.The online ones just seem... I dunno. Scammy?
Did you actually use them for your mortgage? We used our credit union because of the crazy low rates at the time, but now, no bank that I could find could come close to the smaller lenders in the game. We’ve refinanced twice in the past 2.5 years using small lenders.We just went to PNC and got pre-approved. Started looking after that.
