It was a big thing when I was in high school(I graduated in 01). Don't think it's a big of a thing now. I know the Valley football team hasn't been that good since a year or so after my class graduated. Plus I think Highlands and Valley are in different classes now. Highlands AAA and Valley AA so they don't play as much. My step brother plays jv basketball for highlands and it doesn't seem like they consider valley a big rival or anything.

Also I can't speak for how things are now, but I feel I got prepared pretty well for real life at Valley, much more than I would of had I went to Burrell or Highlands. I still live in New Ken now, right up the hill from Valley actually lol. Almost in Lower Burrell but with half the taxes :thumb:

Latrobe crushed Derry, yay. I guess the botanical gardens they installed right after I left are paying dividends.

Also beat Ligonier Valley which I wouldn't have guessed. I think my Aunt still teaches there.

Rank of 67 for my school. Not too surprised. Can't believe it's below Freedom.

I wrote up an offer on a place Monday night. My agent called the seller's agent and told him he would finalize and send it over in the morning, and asked for a time to follow it up on the phone. They did that around noon on Tuesday. One part of the offer asked for a decision by the following day at noon.

When they spoke on the phone the listing agent said he had tried the night before and again that day to get ahold of the owner, to no avail. He's golfing in Florida all week, and as an elderly man doesn't have a phone or email.

So we said that was ok, please to keep us informed and please let us know when you are able to make him aware of the offer so we can amend the times and dates in it. He has been in constant communication with my guy, and I actually feel a tad bad for him because I'm sure hes worrying about a several thousand dollar payday leaving.

Pretty frustrating. Its given me plenty of time to reconsider it and look into other places.

Other than the very obvious (no wear, never lived in before) what would push you towards building a home?

My greatest fear with a new construction would be a fascist HOA.

We would be building on our own land so HOA would not be an issue. It also means we get to basically design the home around us. We currently live in new construction and it's been great for the most part. Everything is under warranty.

its what weve always wanted to do, so the opportunity came up in the area we wanted and we jumped. our HOA is 60/mo paid quarterly

Home inspection was a bit demoralizing today.

"this place is great. the worksmanship is great, the condition is great, the plumbing, electrical, foundation, etc. but the roof and furnace are ****."

So knock 15-20k off the price. You're in the driver's seat here right?

we are going to try knocking 10% off the offer, but I would be shocked if he goes for it at all.

Well, every home inspection is going to net the same results. I guess it's just how willing the buyer is to fix that stuff out of pocket.
