Central PA is looking pretty nice now, isn't it?
No. No it isn't.

Where in LA are you going to settle?
Back to the Valley. I've actually said - only partly in joking - that we should cold call the lady who bought our house in Encino and make an offer.

Is there a job for you in LA? Or is Mrs. Tif getting transferred?

Actually, yeah. Mostly because of the attendant pool.

:thumb: I lived in Venice for a few years and was always shocked how big of a temperature difference there was between Venice and the Valley. I don't think I could've dealt with that heat.

Talking about '40-degree days'.... they always get a kick on the local news showing the temperature differences between Malibu and Woodland Hills. They're only around 11-12 miles apart as the crow flies, but there are times in the spring or early autumn where temps might be 40 or more degrees apart.

The two new houses near us just went up for sale, and I'm estimating that they're at least $30k overpriced. I expect to see multiple price reductions like the last new house that went up for sale earlier this summer. I guess there's always the hope that somebody falls in love with them so much that they pay up, but I don't see it happening.
More than one year later, and the guy who bought the second house has yet to actually move anything into it or actually live in it. He stops by every few weeks, but that’s it. Rumor around the neighborhood was that he paid cash for it, but who knows. I’m still just trying to figure out who pays nearly $400k for a house and let’s it sit for a year.

Our SF house hits the market on Monday. These final few weeks have been sort of stressful; Mrs Tif already started her new job in Thousand Oaks, so she had to be there the last two weeks, and this week she has a meeting in Chicago. (And next week she has a meeting in Dallas) So this morning was her last wakeup here, as she returns home to Los Angeles on Thursday, spending the night at a friend's house, and then we move into our temp apartment (Woodland Hills, yo) on Friday. They're calling for rain both here and in LA and throughout much of the Central Valley of Friday, too. So that will be fun.

Thursday the movers come to pack everything up, and Friday they load out the truck; I'll collect the pets from boarding, and then set off for LA, and this chapter will officially be closed.

I hear any other state than California is beautiful this time of year.

If the wife doesn't mind Southwest and doesn't mind Dallas Love or Chicago Midway, she'd have easy flights out of Bob Hope. Although the prospect of landing at Bob Hope in the rain would make me "hope" that the pilots don't land long.

The cockwombles loading our belongings on to the truck are nearly out of space, and about 10% of our stuff is still inside the house. They parked blocking a neighbor's driveway,, and have been here 3 1/3 hours longer than the crew that loaded us out of Encino. I'm going to have to get a hotel room and board the pets another night.

Ended up taking them 10 hours to load 390 items. Because they disassembled everything. They did not leave the clothes in the dressers, they removed the drawers, and packed the clothes in wardrobe boxes. So instead of just wrapping the dresser as is they had to take the time to build boxes.
