UMBC up 8 on UVA, 2 minutes into the 2nd half. Is this for real?

I can't believe that not only is a 1 going to lose to a 16, they are actually going to get blown the hell out.

I can’t believe it’s finally happened. UVA has underachieved/been unable to score under Bennett, but this is stunning.

They weren't even supposed to win the America East at Vermont. Incredible.

Too bad it was Jim Nance calling the game.

ESPN put this statement on their front page to show how unlikely UVA loss was:
Of the 17.3 million Tournament Challenge brackets, only 579,666 (3.35 percent) picked No. 16 UMBC to take down No.1 Virginia.
But, isn't 3.35% (roughly 1 in 33) an awfully high expectation for an event that until this game happened 0 times out of 135 chances?

One more time since it bears repeating: UMBC lost to Albany 83-39 this season.

Well my buddy and I always did a bracket with all low seeds winning so how many of those 3.35% did that?ESPN put this statement on their front page to show how unlikely UVA loss was:

One has to imagine that more than 3.35% of people who bet on the game did so for UMBC. Why bother to waste the calories doing otherwise?ESPN put this statement on their front page to show how unlikely UVA loss was:

A terrific weekend for hoops. Fully confident my Lions will destroy ND and UNC will cruise to another S16.

Virginia was favored by 20...they lost by 20. I've gotta think there's a stat rooting around in Vegas about the biggest swing in a tournament game (or in any basketball game for that matter). Lyles for UMBC willed them into the tournament with his performance in Vermont (typical choking Catamounts) and then lit the fire again tonite. In Virginia's previous 2 losses, they got torched from the 3-point line and tonite was no different. And when you have a team that slows it down and doesn't score much, a 10-point deficit can feel like 30. Kudos to UMBC for making history but in my mind, it sucks because they are one of my school's biggest rivals and now they'll always have this notch in their belt.
