Any chance your battling Buccos can make a play for Otani? :pop:
I'm sure The Yankees are prepping his uniform.

I'm not sure how the new posting system works that they just agreed upon. But the word on the old one was not posting the max was the GM equivalent of not running out a ground ball. So everyone should be in, technically, but we'll see.

isn't that almost every OAR song?

@shad, not really sure. The last Skyblast that I attended was either the first year that I moved here or the first year that I had my apartment, so like 2011-12.

Me First and the Gimme Gimmes just played Pittsburgh last year and sold out in an hour. The Pirates should be so lucky if the Gimmes would accept another invite. :)
Did they play in your backyard?
My yard isn't big enough to hold the band.

First offseason prospect list for the Pirates. The top three is pretty good and there are some breakout candidates there like Lolo and Hearn.
https://www.baseballprospectus.com/pros ... shane-baz/

Second offseason prospect ranking. I think this one is more accurate.
Mitch Keller, RHP
Austin Meadows, OF
Shane Baz, RHP
Cole Tucker, SS
Ke’Bryan Hayes, 3B
Kevin Newman, SS
Luis Escobar, RHP
Taylor Hearn, LHP
Kevin Kramer, 2B
Will Craig, 1B

Kang has been cut from the Dominican team.
In 24 games he had 84 ABs and went 143/219/202/421 with 1 HR, 2 doubles, 8 BBs, and 31 Ks. I know he didn't play last season, but he should be able to show up to AA level baseball and figure some stuff out over 24 games. Edwin Espinal, recently jettisoned from the Pirates, is batting 283/365/380/746 with 2 HRs, 10 BBs, and 14 Ks over 92 ABs for the same team.

It's like he completely forgot about baseball while he was suspended. This dude was such a waste of a career.

Maybe his powers were fueled by liquor?

Over the weekend I saw this informative and depressing comment on a Bucs Dugout article. During this front office's tenure (starting with the 2008 draft) these are the players they have drafted who have accumulated over 500 ABs:

Alvarez 2869 AB, .760 OPS, 154 HR
Mercer 2316 AB, .700 OPS, 49 HR
Holt 1457 AB, .690 OPS, 13 HR
Grossman 1380 AB, .727 OPS, 31 HR
Bell 677 AB, .796 OPS, 29 HR
Frazier 552 AB, .750 OPS, 8 HR

International free agency over that period adds Polanco (Travis Snider 2.0) and Drunk-o Jung Ho to the list. That's some pure **** right there. Won't sign players. Can't draft and/or develop players. That's about as poor of a drafting record as you can get.

Yeah, they have had all kinds of trouble scouting and developing hitters.

I also read this morning that the Pirates projected payroll of $1035 million is the largest in team history on Opening Day.

That's not good, looking at who they are paying (so far).

The four arbitration eligible guys (Mercer, Cole, Rivero & Kontos) should cost about $20M.

Sad, indeed. The guy had it all, and he flushed it down the toilet. What could have been...

Can you trade the man now? After he names his first-born son "Steel"? That would be ice cold.

Several Pirates, including Starling Marte, are still playing. Marte is attempting to recoup plate appearances lost because of his 80-game steroid suspension. In 20 games for Leones del Escogido, Marte has a .244 on-base percentage and a .316 slugging percentage with a .197 average in 76 at-bats. He has struck out 21 times with three walks.

Marte does not have an extra-base hit in his past 10 games.

Early predictions for next year? I'm going to say 70-92.

I listened to the Fan NH interview last night. He sort of beat around the bush that they are at a point where they have to make some hard decisions (ie sell off guys like McCutchen and Cole or go for it). So, in essence, we have no idea what this roster will look like so I can't predict yet.

Zero history to indicate they will go for it. Worst of all, they'll probably do nothing.

They gonna be "in" the race but not "in" it. Like they always do.

They can't even offer as much as the Yankees could, and are further away from the playoffs. Pirates literally have nothing that guy could want.
