That DLI stuff sounds kinda like word magic, tho. Fluency in a language you never spoke in three months. Awesome.
An ex gf of Kenny the kangaroo went to the DLI for Russian. The pro of that relationship is that Kenny the kangaroo was able to visit Monterey at a discount because she was at the DLI. The con of that relationship is that we broke up after that visit. However they teach language, it works extremely well, because she claims to think in part Russian and part English at this point.

There were people in my class that started SAT prep and taking sample tests in 7th or 8th grade. It was absurd. My valedictorian and salutatorian were both 1600s. I took the test once, as a junior, and got iirc 1040, and figured that was enough and peaced tha **** out.
I remember a kid on my soccer team who was taking college level calculus in 7th grade! He easily scored a 1600 and didn't graduate with me or would have been the valedictorian. I believe he received his undergrad at 17.

The only reason he was on my soccer team (as he had no skills at all) was for him to have some friends. I didn't get it at the time but when I think back on it, I wish I would have been nicer to him. Pretty sure my parents had forced "play dates" between us but we never became friends.

A friend of mine from college went to Monterrey and learned Spanish fluently as well. He went on to work at Fort Meade, listening to our friends in Cuba (I'm assuming, as he wouldn't tell me). But for this guy - who took German with me at Clemson and was terrible at it - to become fluent in three or four months - is very impressive. This was nearly twenty years ago, and he's been out of the military for ten years, but has a job that uses his language training daily (he's a translator for a law office in a DC suburb). #GoGIBill

I've been to DLI as a day visitor, and I feel my German skills improved a bit.

Barbour said she sat down with Pittsburgh athletic director Heather Lyke about the football series when the Panthers came to State College in September, but nothing came of the meeting.

“There has been no progress at this point in time,” Barbour said.

Penn State and Pitt’s four-year home-and-home series is set to expire in 2019. The Nittany Lions travel to Heinz Field in 2018 and host the Panthers at Beaver Stadium the following season.

Barbour did, however, sound slightly more optimistic about scheduling a different opponent.

After visiting Virginia in 2012, there is still a floating agreement for the Cavaliers to play in Happy Valley. While that hasn’t been scheduled yet, Barbour said she has had “direct conversations” with Virginia.

“I think we are closer to solving it,” the athletic director noted. “But I couldn’t tell you where that’s going to end up at this point.”

UPS probably wanting 2 for 1's again since they're good again and "over" the child rape stuff.

In 2018, UPS hosts Appy State, visits Pitt and hosts Kent State. In 2019, they host Idaho, Buffalo and Pitt.

If UPS sticks to their "two non-P5/one P5" OOC trend, Pitt won't have a chance to be back on their schedule until 2026. UPS goes to VT in 2020, hosts Auburn in 2021, goes to Auburn in 2022, hosts WVU in 2023, goes to WVU in 2024 and then hosts VT in 2025.

There's no way Barbour is putting Pitt into an OOC schedule any sooner than that.

If there is still room in the schedule, they should schedule them. End of story.

But I don't run the program.

I'd be more worried about future heisman award winner, Kenny Pickett than the 2020 PU team.

Hah! Love the fact that this thread got revived.

Gonna be funny seeing all the Pitt fans root for Washington today, while their team was so bad they couldn’t even make a bowl.

Mustard Toad and IPittMyself (formerly PittMyPants) are absolutely hilarious. They play Pitt fans like a fiddle. Actually good guys too, I know them personally.
