You'll see some awesome matches but I'm not so sure Serena will still be around by then.

One can dream.

I almost always go to the US open those two days, always get to see some great matches.

I'm hoping for some more interesting performers than the Williams sisters.

Hard to believe that 1. Serena is 40 and 2. This is potentially her last major. The end of an absolute legend.

And it’s the best match she’s played so far in at least a year.

Alright that was the best she’s looked in 2-3 years.

I turned on the tv, saw she was being interviewed and the way she was talking I assumed she lost

I guess it’s good she got one win for the celebration, at least

A friend of mine is a huuuuge tennis and Serena fan and she’ll be there for the round of 16. Hope she can make it that far so she can see her one last time.

Williams' 1st round opponent is ranked 80-something and had a bad hand(?) injury that kept her out of action for quite some time. Kontaveit (the 2nd round opponent) is No. 2 in the world, and rolling. The only thing that does not play in Kontaveit's favor is that she has had pretty bad performances in all 4 majors (she is 26 and never made it past 4th round).

Yup... I joked with her that her chances don't look good, but I'll keep my fingers crossed for her.

Gotta feel a little bad for any opponent of hers at this point. The entirety of the stadium is cheering against you.

Still won’t be as bad as when Osaka beat her in the final.

All the ballyhoo feels forced tonight. I think everybody expected Serena to lose on Monday, including Serena herself.

Honestly it looks like she turned the clock back 5 years. I’m a little salty she didn’t do this at Wimbledon.

Lol they’re replaying the same video? This is cringy. It’s very clear they didn’t expect her to win a match.
