at what age do people have to reach in the workforce until you want to interact with them in a professional setting? This gentleman says 27.

In this thread, we will post real life situations/scenarios in which you are unsure about how to think/feel about some occurrence and the greater good that is 5AF will weigh in.

I need a ruling on grilling in bare feet. Acceptable or unacceptable? I never thought it was unacceptable until someone today told me it was gross. I will continue to grill in bare feet.
Considering I only use charcoal, there mere thought of grilling barefoot makes me feet plead out in protest.

That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard.

By saying it was gross, it seems as though safety is not the issue. So yes, dumbest things I've ever heard.

What do you mean by "professional setting"? Wouldn't working with them in an office count for that? @MrKennethTKangaroo

Also, long debate: cargo shorts yay or nay?

Unless you're bumming around the house, I feel like cargo shorts should be phased out once you hit your early thirties.

I think I last wore cargo shorts in college...it's been a little while now...

I would certainly not consider wearing them now...so nay...

Yay, unless they're plaid.

I wear them in the summer. People that think these two pair of shorts are so much different from one another that one is fine and the other is terrible aren't people I'd want to hang out with during a summer party anyways:

 I didn't even start wearing them until I was in my late 30's / early 40's.

To pirates games? Yes. Then again, when in Rome Yinzerland, do as the romans yinzers do. Just say no to camo shorts, though. That is the pinnacle of yinzer attire.

What about fanny packs? There were tons of people wearing them at the shore this year.
Apparently they're back in style... weird. My wife is kind of happy about it so she can wear one and not look like a complete dork (I know, I know...) when she's walking the dogs.
My wife wears one when she runs. I was explicitly told that it's not a fanny pack, but there's no denying it.

The only non-cargo shorts I wear are boardies.

I have one pair of linen shorts that are for more-dressy-than-casual-but-less-dressy-than-formal events.

I think my evolution was something like this:

18-24 cargo shorts, 25-30 never wore shorts, 30- present - above the knee khaki shorts.

Dude, SoCal.

Give you an example: Two ladies a couple houses down from us got married last year. They had a family-only ceremony and party that weekend (iirc it was Leap Day), then once summer came in they had a big party at the one bride's family home. Chatsworth in June is always shorts weather, but I wouldn't wear cargo shorts to a wedding reception.

The pair on the left.. I own like 6 pairs of those in various colors.. it's pretty much all I wear in the summer. The ones on the right... I would never wear shorts above the knee, but that's just personal preference.. also anyone I've ever seen who wore shorts like that was basically a dbag hipster so there is that.

Not sure I would call that formal, but SoCal said enough, really. I'd love to be able to wear shorts yearround.

Same, though my cargo shorts all basically end at the knees.

I used to be like that...I was all left side...now, I'm all right side...and it's so much better in my opinion...

I don't even wear my blue plaid-ish ones anymore really...straight color, just above the knee...
