Undershirt under a standard, cotton polo looks like amateur hour, but I understand why people do it
Undershirt under a moisture wicking polo shirt is idiotic.

but if the moisture doesn't get to the shirt you don't have to wash itThe golf shirts that are designed to wick away moisture are only effective if the moisture, you know, gets to it. Your undershirt catches it all

Forget the # nonsense. The big question is: if you see something labeled as, for example, 10 lbs, is it a pound mass or a pound force? I had a nearly 2 hour debate with a guy with a masters from CMU regarding the correct nomenclature. He couldn't figure out why his finite element analysis was showing a stress of 1,000 psi on a bolt when the only force was a 75 pound piece of aluminum.

I was always told pounds in weight was the force of gravity acting upon your mass.

Pounds is force, but provided you are on Earth, it could be viewed as mass because your acceleration is constant. Same as a day... it's only 24 hours here on Earth, but you can use them interchangeably because no one is skipping on over to Mars and discussing how long a day is.
psi =/= pounds. It's pounds per square inch. That's what the psi stands for, lol.

Yet a CMU grad couldn't figure that out. He thought everything in writing was a mass unless otherwise specified, and needed to be multiplied by gravity in order to get a force. I tried to explain to him that even though I weigh 215 pounds on earth, I would be 1/6 that on the moon due to a different gravity constant. He still wanted to argue with me.

It may have been 10,000 psi. Either way, my point was his analysis didn't pass the smell test at all, since all he was simulating was a static load of 75 pounds and was getting a stress that was astronomically high.Source of the post psi =/= pounds. But it could be that high provided the 75 pounds was only applied to a small area. In this case ~0.087 inches by 0.087 inches.

It could be, but it wasn't. The load was distributed across 6 screws that were 3/8" diameter. Common sense would tell you that 75 lbs is not going to bring you anywhere near the yield strength of any of those screws.
Moral of the story was he was applying 75 lbm * 32.2 ft/s^2 as the force when he should have only been applying 75 lbf.

Agreed. I think it would be acceptable in context. For example, lawyers use the section (§) and paragraph (¶) symbols a lot, so several of my legal-style books recommend using the symbols rather than the words in briefs and other filings (i.e., writing "§ 123" in place of "section 123") because lawyers and judges know exactly what they mean. But I wouldn't do the same thing when writing for a non-legal audience.Ha. Was just going to post a pic of some #30 felt underlayment. The only context I will buy it in is comstruction/manufacturing etc
