some of the places here (like WingStop) have started requiring payment when you order because people were ordering food and then ghosting.

Online ordering for food pickup: better to pay online beforehand (and have to go through the rigmarole of entering CC information) or pay when you arrive at the establishment
Pay at establishment. Entering all the cc info is rigmarole and if there is something I need less of in my life, it is rigmarole.

But it's a one-time thing if you store the card info in the app.

I don't order food online. I pick up the phone receiver, (rotary) dial the number and order. I then pay in cash when I pick it up.

That's the exact reason why I love the Starbucks app. It's so nice to just walk in and walk out, ideally I usually spend less than 10 seconds in the store. I get annoyed ordering there so even better.

is it acceptable to not go to a meeting knowing that 1 person in that office is already out with the flu and the other one was with their kids who had it all weekend?

why are you skipping the meeting? To avoid the flu or because no one will be there?

Actually, either response is not a valid response

don't want to sit in an office with someone who shouldn't be at work who has it. I had to buy new mattresses and take apart bunk beds after it went through my house last year. Do not want again.

Do they literally have the flu or are they one of those people who say they have the flu when really they have a sniffle and ate some bad sushi?

probably not the flu, but stomach virus. I don't care about colds, I'll draw the line at throwing up though

worse...

mrs shmenguin teaches 2nd grade. one of her kids was out sick last week with a 101 fever. he came in the next day (for the uninitiated, you gotta be 24 hours fever free before you come back to school). but his nitwit parents said he felt better so they didn't see an issue.

like 5 minutes into the day, he looks like death, and his parents have to come get him. he proceeds to miss the rest of the week. and while all this was going on, his sibling had the flu. so what in the flying f*** are you doing sending your kid, who is both consuming and emitting toxic particles into shared space, back to school?

If they don't send the kid to school, they have to account for him for an entire 8 hours. Can't risk that.

It's tough to balance...because while I don't really care for teachers raising kids, these parents aren't exactly on the level, so it's unlikely that the kid is in good hands no matter how you slice it...

parents sending their kids into school when they know they are sick or adults coming to work when they know they are sick?

It's the same issue, both instances are adults acting like children (selfishly).

I've got one employee that's a hypochondriac. Any sinus pressure or a sniffle, and she calls off sick. Meanwhile, another employee who worked in a warehouse (which packed gym socks from huge containers into the packs of 6 or 8 you see at Walmart etc.) basically had a fever all of last week and wouldn't call off sick, because she was used to not getting paid when calling off at the warehouse.

You have sick days, use them.

In our school district, any days missed after 10 requires a doctor's excuse. Not just 10 out of the allowed 20, the last 10. My 9th grader gets migraines that we know what to do for but debilitate him to the point where he can't get out of bed and vomits. He also 5 days due to the flu (on a doctors excuse, mind you). So since he has hit his 10 days we now have to take him to the doc at $63 a pop (new year, insurance minimums have reset) when we know exactly how to treat this.

Could you get your doctor to write a handful of excuses in advance? Do doctors do that?
