I wish I had the brass balls some on that sub do. Some people on there are crazy but make big money.
Yeah, it's all my robinhood stuff. Which my portfolio is about 500 bucks cash invested right now with like 2/3 of that in GME. It's just for play and to try and get my feet under me.

Ditto.

I'm not a gamer though, and my gamer buddies said I'm crazy for thinking that physical games will still ship. They all download their games.
If that was their plan, I'd agree. They're going to have to adapt to digital, and it sounds like they're going to try hard. On top of that, they have a deal with Microsoft and get a cut of all Xbox sales (more than just devices). They're also going to start selling PC components and stuff in the store, including PC building kiosks. They also appear to be undervalued by a lot of folks. Time will tell if it all pans out.

I am going to make an account on robinhood or etrade at some point and just take $1000 as play money and see if I can at least get some return over a long haul, and if I lose it all it's not that much in the grand scheme of things.

They're pumping gamestop hard. I bought 10 shares at the opening dip. Up 5% currently.

See I looked into none of this aspect. Other than Ryan Cohen seems like an ecommerce genius.

Oh. Your. God. That was great...and to a lesser extent, that's how I think as well...

What does keeping $10k in my checking account really do...? Really. I'm not saying I'm going to the razor's edge. I'll give myself six months to live or whatever...but if I can just walk right on over to the money printer and turn it on, like our stupid government does, then why not...? I'll just print my own money...and what's more, is I take my profits from daytrading bitcoin and throw it into my sportsbook...I play blackjack and European roulette with it...and then at 6 pm, I bet on hockey...

I make money 8 days a week, kid...

Get it. There's two cryptos out there...BTC and then the store-brand one...and that's ETH...so if you're good with bootleg cereal, then you're good with that too...they basically hold hands everywhere they go...

Yeah, I have a full Ethereum coin from about 2016. Contemplated cashing it and putting it in GME last night, though.

GME 10% today. And my only regret is that I didn't buy more.

If there is a squeeze, I may sell my shares and buy back in when it drops back to earth to hold long term.

Awesome. I, for one, am not touching it...I don't really believe in it as a long hold...so I'd ride the pump like it's an EV stock or a SPAC and then let it die...

If you're looking for something similarly priced without having to squeeze your butthole every time you look at the ticker...I'd recommend UBER or GDRX...

So continuing my education in this forum.

I have my savings, which I am holding for some home remodel projects in a few years (<3) or until lumber prices return back to earth.

I've been eyeing putting about 75% of it in an ETF, being that I'm getting next to nothing in a savings account.

Being that I'm dialed in with Vanguard managing my employer plan and my (very small) Roth, I've been thinking about putting it into VSS or VOO.

1. Is this a decent strategy for semi short term gains? This would not be "get rich" money but "get more than 0.3% interest")
2. Is 75% of my savings too much to "risk"? Far as I can tell, ETFs are fairly (relatively) safe.

Those ETFs are quite risky, and I would not use them for your emergency fund. They’re really the opposite of where you should put that money.

Also, I’m shocked that mikey isn’t on the GME train. It sounded right up his alley.

I’ll buy a few more shares in your honor.

I'm not "educated", per se...I just make money and have fun...

I do have a big chunk of my savings in steady growth stuff...and that steady growth stuff is largely ETFs...the market is ridiculously high right now and I hate it...because I'm sitting waiting for SPY to hit the skids...but it's staying in this small annoying window and I'm getting theta-dicked to death on my shorts...

Anyhow...I just posted recently about the wonders of ARKs...if you don't have ARKs, it means you hate your savings and you're prepared to live a life of giving handies to zoo animals just to pay your lotion bills...

QQQ is a really strong option too, it also avoids pleasuring animals for little money...

It is, I just don't really believe in the stock or its bubble...now, if GameStop came out with a press release that said, "We have Chinese EV video games in stock starting 2/1/21" then I have 2,000 shares before you can even drop your night gown...

Pump it though, boys...pump it hard, hang it up wet.

Remember, ATP...always. take. profits. Don't be a greedy gus...

Also, **** VOO...what's the point of that...? Take that money and put it in ARKs or go to hell...

(I wouldn't mind owning VSS separately, but I believe I have some of my 401k going to it already...actually, maybe it's just emerging markets...either way, something kind of similar)...

It hit just under $47 in AH trading, so tomorrow will be interesting. And yeah, this is all playtime stuff for me. The data says they’re undervalued, even as is right now, so we’ll see. Earnings report is in two weeks, and the board meets in June/July, so we should find out more then.

As for an emergency fund, I’m old school. Safe and liquid. I still have half a dozen 3+% CDs in a ladder from years ago, though most of them are maturing in the next year.
