I am not the most knowledgeable in this field of the posters but here are my five cents:

- Buying now is most probably a great idea if you have a horizon of 5+ years. The prizes are low and will rise sooner or later.

- I don't think we have reached the bottom yet. It will be very ugly when the impact of all closed restaurants, hotels etc. really shows. Low demand -> Companies fire people -> People save their money -> low demand
Higher oil prices might raise the stock prices, but I still think it is temporary and we will see another price fall in a couple of weeks...

Seems like the past few weeks have been one step forward 5 steps back for the markets. I don't think we bottom out until the country/world gets back to normal, which seems like it'll be quite a ways away.

Those folks should have been heavily weighted in bonds, and should still be okay...

Yeah, my dad was telling me about my second cousin, who apparently "lost 600k in this mess". They're 63. So they're either lying, or stupid.

Not sure if Tomas or the Dunn can assist in this somewhat open ended thought:

This last week pummeled all asset classes and all levels of quality from the best of investment grade to the crappiest speculative stocks to treasuries, etc. As i, this isnt a flight to safety, it is just a flight period. So at this point there are an assload of ETFs holding quality assets trading for 2% or 3% less than the value of the underlying assets. Historically, that spread has been a lot lower. Am i an idiot for choosing to buy high grade bond etfs with the assumptions that the spread will eventually close and give an additional boost?

This foregoes that assumption that the market wont explode in on itself.

I spent most of the morning trying to find a stock trading at an insane discount (i.e. ben graham less than current assets) but came up fruitless so far.

Last week, Nikki Haley quit Boeing's board because they asked for a COVID bailout. Proving her conservative bonafides for 2024.

The news is that Boeing is shutting down their Washington state factory for two weeks because of the virus. The North Charleston facility is not affected. Yet.

back up over 20K. Unfortunately for the past few weeks, every the dow makes big gains, the next few days go into a free fall. I'm hopeful, but we'll wait and see.

Yeah, I think news like this is more relevant to long term outlook than this stimulus package.

Again, maybe not outsourcing our supply chains to not-America would have been wise.

Our in house economists just put out that we are in a recession, I am guessing then that 1Q 19 is going to be negative and 2Q undoubtedly will be negative. They are saying the stimulus will get us out of the recession quickly. So that's good.

But still, the most important thing is to get the disease contained, looks like were on pace to surpass China in total cases sometime next week.

Be a great time for some infrastructure spending. Too bad that can't happen.

The recent bump is strictly due to the legislation that was passed. The only thing that is going to be a truly good sign for the market is fewer cases and fewer deaths
