Also the ruble is worth more now than it was in February 2022. man it'd be real nice to be a politician and know about all this sht before it happens.

Meanwhile, Walmart had by far its worst daily loss in history. I wrote a short analysis here:

Thanks for posting. I have been watching WMT closer than any other individual stock at the moment because, like you mention, it seemed to be more shock proof than the ETFs I originally thought would be good (VOO QQQ).

I think it's probably at a deep discount right now, but it's down almost another 7% today.

FWIW my wife was a shareholder of WMT when she worked there. I remember buying shares for about $35-40 a piece. They paid for our sidewalks and patio when we built our new house.

Reminds me of my wife telling me she had stock in Starbucks. She worked there during college and didn't know how much she had invested. We were planning some big project at our house so I finally decided to look into it. She never bought the stock. Could have been worth over $10k if she bought the max shares available to her. :face:

Is it just related to drop in discretionary spending due to inflation?

@NTP66 Marcus interest rate goes up again to .7%! We'll be back to 2.3% or whatever it was a couple of years ago in no time, along with 10% mortgage rates and $5 gas.

I guess we'll find out this year if this is a crash or a correction.

JPow dump yesterday. I'm up 5x on SPY puts that I bought this morning. Hopefully we bottom out somewhere near 373 tomorrow (probably won't quite that low) and then after that, a quick ricochet...good timing on playing the down and the up could lead to some serious $$$...

I meant to ask you earlier, but did you notice how long it takes Marcus to actually confirm transfers now? It's a full 7 days. You earn interest after the first day of the transfer initiating, but the money isn't available until day 7. It used to be 3 days, and there's no reason why it should take 7 days for a digital transfer in 2022.

Honestly, if I didn't throw so much money into I-Bonds, I'd probably use this time to switch to one of the banks offering 1%+ rates.

I hadn't noticed, as I just park money there and don't move it around much. With the impending real estate transactions coming up, I was going to put the equity from our current house in that account until we close on the new house...but that might not work because of the 7 day delay. Yikes.

You should still be able to wire money in quickly, which may work better for your use case. I did that in the past when funding an external CD account.

I really should've remortgaged the house to buy a boatload of Russian Ruble in March.

I haven't looked at any markets in a few months. I pulled everything out and just disconnected. Just now checked Coinbase, both ETH and BTC are halved since earlier in the year. Ford is at $13/share, down from $25/share this winter. God damn. I'm scared to look at my TSP/401k.

Stock split day for Amazon. $125ish/share now. Could definitely see it drop lower this week. Alphabet has one coming up later this summer as well. Excellent opportunity to get some individual shares of the big boys that will probably be back up to $1000/share again in two decades.

Also, here’s a great guide from CNBC about how to retire early and live in Portugal if you’re a rich lawyer who is also the son of a rich lawyer who was tragically murdered while you were in law school and you inherited all of his money and retirement savings.
