I don't think the NHL should change any rules for next season.

Cut the crap, turkey. Puck over the glass should be treated like icing. Not like a penalty. Everyone knows this. No one is doing anything about it. Get on board or get out of my America.

1.) I hate turkey
B.) I think that rule is as much a fan safety rule as it is a rule to try and create offense. I like it being a penalty. It punishes a dumb play - which is ok in my book.

Not sure if this is unpopular or not, but the NHL should institute carryover penalties in playoff games. If there is time remaining on penalties at the end of a game, and there is another game, then that time should carryover to the start of the next game.

The carryover penalty idea goes far beyond unpopular...

What happens in game 7 of a series...? Does it carry to the next series...? Next season...? What if that player is suspended or isn't dressed for the next game...?

It's going to be tough to top that in this thread...

Why would it carry over against a new team? And if they don't dress it would be the same as someone that couldn't serve their penalty in a game right now.. someone else sits in the box. I don't like the idea at all but seems pretty simple to implement

Simple. Obviously it wouldn't translate to a new opponent (I'm fairly certain I said that in my original post), why would it carryover next season since I said it was just the playoff series? If the player isn't dressed then another serves the penalty. I'm tired of people "sending" messages at the end of games, you "send a message" you screw your team for next game as well.

Problem - team slashes the hell out of you with 15 seconds left because there's no real repercussion. Roughing after the whistle, etc

Has that actually been a problem in these playoffs...? Cite examples. I believe we're at the record for one-goal games or close to it, a ton of overtime games as well, I really don't recall a lot of this going on to the point where you want to become the first sport to carry on-ice/field discipline across multiple games...that's an extreme measure and there is nothing that would indicate this is necessary. Especially relative to what could be fixed instead.

This might have been relevant in the 1980's and 1990's - still a poor idea, but now add 20 or 30 years of obsolescence and here we are...

That doesn't benefit a team that is winning 4-1. That's why I would like carryover or have to serve the whole penalty at the start of the next game.

I think the only way your gonna get teams to take less penalties is by making power plays run the full two minutes - with the ability to score more than one PP goal. I don't endorse that, just throwing it out there.
