An R2 of .21 is a trash correlation.

An R2 of .21 is a trash correlation.
A correlation coefficient of 0.46 is not bad. On the other hand (and that's my professional deformation talking) the bigger issue is whether there exists a potential omitted variable that affects both the lack of NBA production and the rating of adult clubs that could be behind the observed positive correlation between the two variables. One of them could be the "quality of life" in general. That is, a city that has better adult clubs may have better music clubs, restaurants, etc.

It *may* be possible that when Mr. Harden attends a "better city", he may over-eat in a really good restaurant and/or then listen to great music for way too long. This, too, may explain the potential substandard performance - but the explanation would not be as funny.

The proper test of the adult club-performance relationship should involve some exogenous shock - say, a law - that affects adult clubs in some cities (but not the others). Then we can study how this shock affects Mr. Harden's performance in the "treated" cities (affected by the exogenous shock) as opposed to the control cities.

Have been able to watch a lot of nba this week up at odd hours with our little one. It’s fun to see Lebron again this year. Brad Wanamaker has a role on the Celtics and actually isn’t playing terribly. Kemba walker is fun to watch. Brandon Ingram has been really good for the pelicans. Ja Morant is a great player

Am I the only one who had no idea Dwight Howard was still in the league, let alone playing with Lebron and AD in LA?

Taking a look at the NBA standings is fascinating. In the East, for example, the 76ers are 31-17 and sitting sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Meanwhile, you have the Orlando Magic in seventh place in the East at 21-27, a full ten games behind the Sixers. There's a little more parity in the West, but the East is ridiculously top-heavy. Also, I had no idea the freaking Bucks were 41-6(!)

The Sixers are 22-2 at home and 9-19 on the road....that is an insane split. They just lost four straight on the road, which included Giannis absolutely dominating Embiid the other night. Between Embiid's notorious softness and Ben Simmons' Kendall Jenner crap, I am loving the drama with this team.

Would be better on the road if they hadn’t abandoned the scrappy leadership of TJ McConnell.

I wish they weren't from Philly because I kinda like that team. Embiid and Simmons are good guys to root for imo

Looks like the NBA is about to claim another college coach as Beilein is expected to be ousted by the Cavs.

Vanessa Bryant is suing the helicopter company and the pilots estate

I don’t know so much what that actually means but that seems REALLY shitty.
