WOW this Clippers-Spurs game is great television. Chris Paul is a freaking warrior, absolutely love watching him play. What a shot

I hate cp3 but I hate the spurs so I'm torn on the result. Pops whining is delicious though.

I feel bad for Clips fans. They have to replace a top tier player with a guy whos only in the league because his dad is a terrible GM

The NBA scheduling is awful. No games tonight? Who's the idiot that decided that was a good idea. Not to mention that the Cavs/Bulls and Clips/Rockets play tomorrow, which means the other 4 teams get three days off

The hell

Wow, Rose drills a 3 to win at the buzzer

Didn't call bank though...

I'm glad I switched it over during the intermission. That was a high-quality ONIONS shot by Rose.

Though, the 3 by the Cavs to tie it was pretty ballsy, too.

Eh, it was a classic JR "**** everyone" shot which he's really good at making somehow

The Cavs have no semblance of an offense though. No off ball movement, just either a simple pick and roll or a Lebron/Kyrie iso. Reminds me of the Heat in 2011

A bulls title with rose winning playoff MVP (if that's a thing in basketball) would be one of the better sports stories I can remember. Ain't happening but still...

28 ft attempts last night by one player.

In one half.

Aside from Kyrie Irving (and Lebron, of course), what makes this Cavs team so much better than 2-3 years ago?

It's hard to come up with an answer that's not "LeBron". Basketball can swing so much with just one player. The year after LeBron left the Cavs fell from 61 wins to like 20. Kyrie is a great offensive player but he took a leap this year in large part because LeBron makes the game so much easier for everyone. He doesn't have to worry about point guard duties and can just worry about scoring. Tristan Thompson can now just focus on crashing the boards like a maniac and finishing alley oops.

The midseason additions of Shumpert, Mozgov, and Smith were huge too. The Cavs went from a 4 man team to now having a pretty good 7 or 8 man rotation even without Love.

But really it all comes down to LeBron. His ability to play either the 3 or the 4, guard anyone on the court, slash and kick, score, etc. all at a world class level is invaluable. It's not as prevalent in the regular season because there's really no point in him going all out every game so they can be the 1 seed instead of the 2. But in the playoffs where he'll play 44 minutes a game and actually try on defense, he's a nightmare to try to contain 4 games out of 7.

It's a boring choice, but lebron is still the league MVP IMO. Take away curry and the warriors are still in the playoffs. The cavs are verging on lottery again without lebron.

With no Lebron, they don't trade for Love which means they would have Bennett and Wiggins right? Even those 2 + Kyree would have gotten them close to the 8th seed in the East, I think.

This Cavs team with Love out and Kyrie looking somewhat injured reminds me of the late 00s Cavs teams. They're going to go as far as Lebron takes them, but even late 00s Lebron couldn't win a title by himself. Whoever comes out of the west (Golden State, Memphis or LAC) is going to beat them.

Can't possibly like basketball less, but this Clippers thing has been entertaining, from a human interest perspective.

Stupid clippers losing.

I wanted them to win. Now I'm rooting for the Hawks.

If I had to pick an order, it would be Hawks, Cavs, Warriors, Rockets.

Which means the Rockets will win the championship.

Harden is so good.

This game is fun.

Edit: and then he dribbles his way into a loss

One assist in game 1 and one assist in game 2 away from back to back triple doubles

I like that there is a new crop of teams in these conference finals.

Not the same ole Lakers, Spurs, Heat, etc.
