It's astounding how much this loss bothers me despite the fact that I'm generally anti-CLE, am not a Lebron guy (tho I do think he is very likely the best player of all time imo, this season cemented it and he's got another 4-5 seasons left in him), and have no rooting interest beyond I would rather an underdog win. That sucked big time.

Truth. I gleefully rooted against him when he was in Miami but am really annoyed that his effort isn't being rewarded.

Question going back to that Game 1 gaffe. Player guy says he knew the score, but thought they were going to call a timeout. How is that better? I mean, I don't know anything about B-ball, but I'm having a difficult time figuring out why the offense would even want to call a TO there in that situation in lieu of, you know, immediately putting the winning points on the board.

I think the only time that makes sense is if he didn't have a chance to immediately put it back up. He was in close, had the rebound and just needed to go up and take shot or get fouled trying to do so. I guess if he didn't have the lane or ability to drive to the basket, you could say that you wanted a timeout, but he clearly didn't think about a timeout. He clearly thought they were up one. No further analysis needed.

The only reason you dribble out of the lane in that situation is because you’re trying to get away from the people who are trying to foul you. No coach wants a timeout with possession in the lane.

One theory I read is he thought it was a defensive rebound and had to go the other way.

He pretty clearly says to Lebron "I thought we were ahead" and thought he was running out the clock. His after the fact nonsense just compounds the embarrassment.

Cavs have zero chance... They'll be lucky if this goes 5.

I actually felt bad for him for about 5 seconds lol. They also gave him a standing O pregame.

Poor JR. Would have just been better not going for the rebound

Assume the Cavs lose in 4 or 5.

If you're Lebron, what do you do?

I sign with Philadelphia.

He blew his one move from Cleveland. I think if he bails on them twice his legacy will take a hit. Philly is probably the best option. He should just retire to his vineyard that he'll be buying

He didn't blow it in the sense that it was a failure, but leaving twice just looks v bad. If he went from the Heat to Philly no one would care imo

I'd say he'll be in Philly, Cleveland with major roster overhauls, or Houston. In that order of likelihood imo.

Man...as if the Eagles winning isn't bad enough, now I would have to deal with Lebron/Dream Team fever? Kill me.

Cleveland hadnt won anything in 60 years. I don't think he owes them anything or think it looks "v bad." He delivered imo.

Slappy,

Have you watched "the decision"

If so, have you met a Cleveland fan before?

If so, do you expect any of them to act rationally? It will be another shtshow

I agree. He did what they wanted him to do. I think he goes to Houston.

The latest video angle that shows the Cavs bench after regulation of game 1 is telling. Lebron says nothing until he asks if they had a timeout left, then hangs his head in apparent disgust when he finds out they did. No way he goes back to Cleveland, imo. Also, his reaction, and how he played against the Celtics a few years ago... there are times (very rare) that he seems to give up. That’s why I don’t think he gets ahead of Jordan in the all time greatest discussion.

He hadn't won a title the first time. This time around will pale in comparison imo.

I saw that. I'm also pretty sure he was trying to call timeout at the end so he knew they had a timeout and he was just being dramatic
