Last week I saw a kid waiting for a bus downtown wearing a Shawn Kemp Sonics jersey. Amazing jersey

Perkins is an idiot, but I am actually really surprised how solid of an analyst Redick is.

Perkins is the only PTI guest I fast forward through and have been doing it for at least a year. One of the worst talking heads in sports media
that said, the MVP race is interesting. Jokic is the betting favorite by a good margin but Embiid has been on fire lately. I think to me the differentiator is that Embiid has Harden and Jokic’s second best player is Murray so I’d still lean Jokic but I think it’s close

For a non-NBA fan (except like finals time where I'll watch)... what is "stat padding" in the NBA? How does that work?

it’s not always easy to identify but sometimes it’s obvious in terms of what decisions players make. Like Rajon Rondo would famously pass the ball in situations where he had an open look in the paint to get his assist numbers upFor a non-NBA fan (except like finals time where I'll watch)... what is "stat padding" in the NBA? How does that work?
it’s not as huge of an issue as like…Trevon Diggs padding his interception numbers (at the cost of giving up TDs) but it can be anti-competitive at times. Another phrase I like is “good stats, bad team” to describe guys like Lamelo Ball who put up good numbers but are on a pathetically uncompetitive team where the player puts up numbers without elevating the team as a whole

Giannis had a rebound taken off his stat line a week or so ago that gave him a triple-double because the NBA ruled that it wasn't a legit shot attempt. For a non-NBA fan (except like finals time where I'll watch)... what is "stat padding" in the NBA? How does that work?

Steph’s shooting ability is…honestly unbelievable. I’m continually amazed at how well he shoots
I was never a huge Kobe fan because I found his volume shooting to be annoying, especially because he wasn’t terribly efficient. Also I think Lebron is easily the best player since MJ (and probably the only guy who’s in the convo with MJ) but Steph has been the most entertaining player since Jordan. Continually amazed at how great he is at range

I saw Philly at Cleveland tonight. Honestly, Embiid could be one of the most dominant players since prime LeBron if he wanted. He's so big, and so much more athletic than normal big men his height. Man amongst boys tonight

Since it came from the world wide leader account Woj only got two mentions in the tweet to Schefter's usual four+.

sixers were in town so I went to the game. Embiid should get MVP. Jokic is really good but Embiid dominates physically where Jokic plays a bit more as a distributor. For example Embiid averages a block more per game than Jokic and he had 4 tonight. He was phenomenal and looked unguardable as an agile big man who can play at the 3 or with his back to the basket

To be fair to Cuban, the NBA really needs to give an explanation about how that got messed up and why they didn't allow Dallas to get set with their own inbounds play before telling them it wasn't their ball. It's like they saw Dallas break the huddle, get 5 on the court, and they decided it was time to put the ball into play.

There’s been a lot of commotion about the MVP the last few weeks as Embiid as made a legitimate push and overtook Jokic as the favorite for a little bit of time but Embiid keeps missing big games (including one against Jokic) so Jokic is back as the favorite
It’s weird…Jokic definitely deserved at least one MVP but he’s about to win back to back to back MVPs which was only done by Wilt, Russell and Bird. Idk if Jokic is really deserving to be in the same class as them and it definitely feels weirder knowing that Lebron never won back to back to back

and the 76ers performance without embiid is pretty consistent with him - hard to argue hes the MVP when you miss 20% of the games and the team still does well without you

I agree, he kind of has to win it (Embiid and Giannis have already missed more games than any MVP in history so they’re tough sells). But it still feels dirty that he’ll have won 3 in a row

The GSW have finished their regular season home slate with only 8 losses (33-8). With losses tonight @ Sacramento and Sunday @ Portland they will finish with only 9 road wins (9-30 currently).
I can't really wrap my head around that.
