Just saw Nunes is suing CNN for $435mm. Didn't that guy head up the "stop frivoulous lawsuits" bill?

One of the lawfare people is saying that he's just making up legal arguments on the fly.

CNN is the most recent defendant in a handful of defamation suits filed by the lawmaker this year.

In March, Nunes filed a $250 million lawsuit against Twitter, claiming the platform, two parody Twitter accounts and a Republican political consultant defamed him with mean tweets. He sued the McClatchy news organization, alleging defamation in August, and sued Ryan Lizza and Hearst Magazines for $77 million two months later, claiming that a story in Esquire about the Nunes family farm in Iowa defamed him.

Tuesday’s lawsuit against CNN delivered on a threat to sue that Nunes made during an appearance on Fox News last month.

I also reached out to retired organic farmer Paul Buxman of Dinuba, who was sued by Nunes after he and two others asked the state not to allow Nunes to identify himself on the ballot as a “farmer.”

“I never asked him to admit he’s not a farmer,” Buxman said. “I asked him to give a proper and honest designation. I believed it could help him. When you are propping up something that’s not honest, it takes a lot of energy to stay ahead of that game — you know, his pictures walking through almond orchards and wearing jeans. The Chinese say, a half-truth is worse than a lie.”

He thought Nunes should identify himself as a “farmer’s advocate.”

Secretary of State Alex Padilla, a Democrat, ruled that Nunes could continue to identify himself as a farmer, even though he doesn’t farm and only recently began to declare on financial disclosures his ownership of a Tulare farm, according to the Visalia Times Delta, which has generated no income.

That Nunes turned around and sued Buxman — a constituent — for challenging his status tells you that the congressman’s skin is as thin as the skin on a grape. The case was later dropped.

That was a pretty good day. It would be nice if someone were chronicling this thread and could provide visual representation of all the times one ridiculous argument consumed the day's worth of posting.

Trump is genuinely funny, both intentionally and unintentionally. Nothing will ever top "Thanks to Tim Apple." Even him trying to explain it away by saying he meant "Tim/Apple" was a great bit.

Mr. Trump had just returned from Finland, where he sided against his own intelligence agencies’ conclusions about Russian interference in the 2016 election during a meeting with President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia. “I have President Putin; he just said it’s not Russia,” Mr. Trump had said on Monday. “I don’t see any reason why it would be.”

And by that, Mr. Trump said on Tuesday, more than 24 hours later, he meant the exact opposite. “The sentence should have been, ‘I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be Russia,’” Mr. Trump said. “Sort of a double negative.”
Agreed, this **** is genuinely amusing and funny.
