Do you have any idea what kind of rhetoric is coming out of countless mosques across the US re: LGBT? Just because you don't hear about it in the news doesn't mean it isn't pervasive.
Examples?
Wasn't there just a national story about six year olds singing at school about chopping off heads?
And they were rightly condemned. I'm mostly objecting to the the deflection against this dope in TN.
For what it's worth, I don't think shaf has any idea what rhetoric is coming out of countless mosques across the US regarding LGBT or anything else. ;)

The Chair of the Federal Election Commission has issued a statement in response to Trump's ABC News interview.

"It is illegal for any person to solicit, accept, or receive anything of value from a foreign national in connection with a US election. This is not a novel concept."
People are giving Director Wray a lot of flack for not being the one to respond. I'm giving him a pass on this, because if he had responded it could be swept aside as personal aggrievement or sour grapes. The fact that the head of the agency in charge of election law enforcement is the one who responded is appropriate. (At least inasmuch as we aren't likely to ever hear such comments from the Attorney General, who definitely is 100% not white knighting for Trump.)

"Further, the penalty is keeping your job, your money, your benefits, the ability to use your office to enrich yourself, the ability to assign anyone you want to any position, and all-you-can-golf. Oh, you can also pardon anyone you want, too. I mean, there's other perks, too many to list here, but you get the idea, it's ILLEGAL."

So the barbaric religious bigots...cancel each other out?
So if you identified as a god fearing Christian, your reaction might be akin to, say, disappointment - as opposed to “but they did it first!”?
I am definitely eager to enlist in the next crusades.
You may be in luck. we have 70's quality video of terror happening, those stupid Iranians tried to turn their own shipping route into a reef and need to be freedomed to smithereens.

Whether "dirt," or mere information, qualifies as a thing of value is an interesting legal question—one that does not seem to have ever been definitively addressed by the courts. There is precedent saying that the First Amendment does not apply to monetary contributions made by foreign nationals, but whether speech alone would not be protected is a very different question. For example, a foreign national (let's call him Borat) attends a campaign rally (open to the public) for federal candidate Doe, and when Doe is doing a "grip and grin" handshake line, Borat out of the blue says to him, "You should know that your opponent is an investor in a Kazakh company that is actually a front for the Kazakh mafia and is involved in drug and human trafficking." Assume that juicy dirt is in fact completely true. Could Doe be charged for campaign violations for merely hearing that information? Could Borat be charged for merely speaking to Doe?

I thought the mueller report did a good job laying out the difficulties of prosecuting on these grounds.

I'm not sure what the First Amendment question or applicability would be for Doe in this example. Is there a 1A right to receive speech?

Yes. The SCOTUS has held that there is a 1A right to hear speech and to receive information. See, e.g., Martin v. City of Struthers, 319 U.S. 141 (1943) (saying, "This freedom embraces the right to distribute literature, and necessarily protects the right to receive it."); Stanley v. Georgia, 394 U.S. 557 (1969) ("It is now well established that the Constitution protects the right to receive information and ideas."); Board of Ed., Island Trees Union Free School Dist. No. 26 v. Pico, 457 U.S. 853 (1982) (plurality) (holding that the First Amendment necessarily includes the right to receive speech because "The dissemination of ideas can accomplish nothing if otherwise willing addressees are not free to receive and consider them. It would be a barren marketplace of ideas that had only sellers and no buyers.").

Do those cover elections? And is there a divergence if you receive it from a foreign
Non-ally?

I'm sure there is plenty of red tape involving all the interest conflictions with foreign business deals, but Tif will eat my hat if the Dems go after those, since they eat from the same trough.
