This has been my main operating theory on Manafort for some time now. It's not so much that he expects a pardon, it's that he's at risk to much more than his personal liberty if he cooperates.Unless he wants to go to jail so the Russians don’t poison him.Until he/they announce he's separating from the defense team of Trump, he's not cooperating. He's just making it faster for Trump to pardon Manafort.

The thing that bothers me the most about this is the New Yorker story notes that she is up for reelection this year and is 'facing a challenge from the left'. Her and her challenger were the two highest vote getters in the primary, so they're the only two candidates on the general ballot in November. She got 2.9 million votes, he got 800k (including both Mrs Tif and myself). That really means nothing to me... I've seen enough to know that how a man acts in day to day situations doesn't mean he's a saint when drunk and in a closed door situation.
