Paul Manafort's cooperation agreement with the special counsel does not include matters involving the Trump campaign, according to a person familiar with the case, @johnson_carrie reports

Manafort’s lawyer says Paul pleaded guilty because he is taking responsibility and he wants his family to be safe and live a good life.

Looks like Carrie Johnson from NPR is reporting it.

That Reno Maretti guy said that's not how plea deals work.

I can definitely envision a scenario where Manafort doesn't have anything incriminating to share about other people, but he still would have information to provide that would assist the SC in their investigation to define what happeend.

Manafort probably has a story to tell about that Trump tower meeting. He also knows a lot about Russian oligarchs and doesn’t want to die of novichok poisoning.

Until he/they announce he's separating from the defense team of Trump, he's not cooperating. He's just making it faster for Trump to pardon Manafort.
Unless he wants to go to jail so the Russians don’t poison him.
This has been my main operating theory on Manafort for some time now. It's not so much that he expects a pardon, it's that he's at risk to much more than his personal liberty if he cooperates.

Carrie Johnson has seemingly backtracked on that Trump campaign statement.

Seems like this is the full story on the Cavanugh sexual assault allegation.
The question here is if Feinstein and others really held this to be credible they'd be standing on top of roof shouting and screaming.

The fact she had this and then passed it off to somebody else without really telling anyone says a lot.
The thing that bothers me the most about this is the New Yorker story notes that she is up for reelection this year and is 'facing a challenge from the left'. Her and her challenger were the two highest vote getters in the primary, so they're the only two candidates on the general ballot in November. She got 2.9 million votes, he got 800k (including both Mrs Tif and myself). She's not going to face any backlash.

Don’t they still have a joint defense agreement? Wouldn’t that be terminated if he was cooperating against trump?
I'm wondering if he's providing info on Jared and Trump Jr.
Considering the breadth and scope of Manafort's entanglements, I wouldn't be surprised if this includes information far more wide-ranging than anything related to Trump.

So someone at the New York Times tried to link Nikki Haley to the Trumpist habit of buying expensive office furniture. Problem? Samantha Power was UN rep when they were installed. Is it to much to ask to just have honest news?

That is an important detail that should not have been omitted. But I think the gist of the story is that these expenditures are still going through while the state department budget is being slashed.
Or not

Seems like this is the full story on the Cavanugh sexual assault allegation.
"Sexual assault" = In the letter, the woman alleged that, during an encounter at a party, Kavanaugh held her down, and that he attempted to force himself on her. She claimed in the letter that Kavanaugh and a classmate of his, both of whom had been drinking, turned up music that was playing in the room to conceal the sound of her protests, and that Kavanaugh covered her mouth with his hand.

BuzzFeed News reports the letter of the 65 women supporting Kavanaugh came together so quickly because a group of women who have known him since his high school days decided Thursday to write it when rumors of the allegations surfaced.

Amateur hour over in the Senate
According to Judiciary Republicans, Feinstein did not attend the closed part of Kavanaugh's confirmation hearing, in which sensitive material is discussed. And the accusations in that letter did not surface during the closed session.

That really means nothing to me... I've seen enough to know that how a man acts in day to day situations doesn't mean he's a saint when drunk and in a closed door situation. If he truly did sexually assault someone (I'm not convinced he did yet), having 65 women say he didn't sexually assault them or speak to his character when he was around them means nothing.

While the truth is an important detail that should not have been omitted, I think the gist of Feinstein's letter is that politicians sometimes engaging in sexual improprieties is something that still happens

At the end of the day Feinstein got what she wanted. Kavanaugh will forever have a scarlet letter on him regardless of truth which doesn't really matter to most people no matter how much actual real facts come out.
