Congress at one point threatened to hold Barr in contempt, and he capitulated with whatever it was that he was being asked to provide. And I think that was more of a ceremonial contempt than whatever it would be for them to actually send out this sergeant at arms character to arrest someone.

I'm guessing the optics of Congress arresting people would escalate things to a level that they are not ready to go to.

I don't see how they're not going to get there if they keep sending out requests and subpoenas and get nothing from it. They've chosen this path to investigate, so investigate to the full extent you can.

It's very easy to say that they're just bogging the system down and doing nothing, which is what Trump is running on, and while support for impeachment grows, the longer this wanes the less interested it becomes.

It is funny though that many of the same people who are attacking NBA players are the same ones defending the decision to have some Kurds slaughtered
I'm sure the Kurds would be glad have your assistance chickenhawk.

lol

https://www.cnbc.com/2019/10/08/justice ... -info.html
Justice Department lawyers on Tuesday used the example of Richard Nixon’s impeachment inquiry to argue that the House Judiciary Committee should be denied its request to obtain information about grand jury materials assembled under special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe of President Donald Trump.

Lawyers from the Justice Department surprised the judge, Beryl Howard, by arguing that the decision to release normally secret grand jury materials to the House in 1974, when Nixon faced impeachment, was incorrect, and that those materials should have been kept from Congress, according to NBC News.

Those materials were considered the “roadmap” that led to Nixon’s expected impeachment that year.

“Wow,” Howell said after hearing the Justice Department’s position during a hearing in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C.

I'm also not sure what sort of upheaval Gorsuch is considering here, a lot of states have protections for sexual orientation and gender identity already in place.

They are trying to force the house to a vote.

My guess is that they believe the house won’t hold a vote for a formal impeachment inquiry. Basically muddying the waters to try and make people not care anymore.

i don't see any evidence of 'people don't care anymore' where we live.
here in the rural south bible belt there's been a dramatic uptick in what i assume to be small arms fire and and the rapid tat tat tat tat tat* of what i assume are ar-15's has intensified to the point where we finally called the police.
we're surrounded by farms and i wasn't of the mindset that this target practice/varmit hunting noise was anything other than that until i sat around a body shop listening to a bunch of trumpkins talking about how much they're looking forward to shooting ANN eh fa in the civil war
and the number of houses with trump flags under a gable or attached to a gutter is three times what it was in 016. see a lot of infowars bumper stickers too
crazyass ****

*"assume" i know ****all about guns

It's also currently beginning to get near deer season in much of the South. As well as lots of other hunting seasons, probably has a lot more to do with that than your fever dream.

Gun season in South Carolina starts October 11th.

We have shooting ranges all over my neighborhood, nothing out of the ordinary here. We are in the middle of deer season though...

Fairfax County went for Hillary Clinton Tuesday, giving her 63 percent of their vote, with 269,150 votes.

What was your complaint or concern? Excessive noise?

"Massive social upheaval" if employers are no longer allowed to capriciously terminate someone's employment simply because they're gay.
