Virginia GOP leader wants to do away with ‘Gentlewoman’ title:
With Virginia’s first openly transgender elected official preparing to take her seat in the House of Delegates, the Republican leader of that chamber says it is time to end a tradition of addressing lawmakers by formal male and female pronouns.

Instead of the “gentleman” or “gentlewoman” from a given jurisdiction, lawmakers will all be referred to as “delegate” if Republicans maintain control of the chamber, House Majority Leader M. Kirkland Cox (R-Colonial Heights) said through a spokesman Tuesday.

Conservative lawmakers hailed the change as a way to avoid what they said could be a potentially awkward situation. But one of the longest-serving House Democrats called the decision “shameful” and said lawmakers “ought to be big enough to get over these hang-ups we have.”

He's not wrong about Ball being a fool. I'm just having a hard time understanding how we got to a world where the President of the United States of America needs to tweet that.

The man has never turned the other cheek in his life.
I'd like a POTUS who treats slights like water off a duck's back, and instead Trump is more like a sponge.

I can't be the only one that is surprised that the GOP is making the change and one of the Democrats calling it shameful. Seems so backwards.

It astounds me that the President of the US can be so damn petty.

I also like Trump discussing the NFL's "new idea." Didn't NFL players always remain in the locker rooms during the POA until the military began sponsoring the league?

I am old enough to remember when Feminists went banana's over the kind of "gentlewoman" kinds of things and wanted to degenderize language like that....but party politics gonna party politics.

Semi-related, but that is one of the interesting aspects of transgenderism. Seeking to glorify the kind of "femininity" associated with Ozzie and Harriet which Liberalism has been trying to destroy since 1968.

The crowd that normally barks the loudest about the IRS being used as a political cudgel are awfully quiet about things in the new tax bill like taxing university endowments.

Note that the author self identifies with said group.
To me, the controversy involving the reasons for evangelical support for Roy Moore reveals how little we understand evangelicals as a group in modern America.

The problem is that many of these so-called leaders are going on TV and saying words to the effect of "even if the allegations are true, Moore would be better than a Democrat". So to me, that article is really trying to make a point that's effectively a distinction without difference in practice.

Ex-USA Gymnastics doctor apologizes, pleads guilty to criminal sexual conduct
Larry Nassar, the former acclaimed USA Gymnastics team doctor, pleaded guilty Wednesday to seven counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and admitted in a Michigan court to using his position to sexually abuse underage girls.

Three of the charges applied to victims under 13, and three applied to victims 13 to 15 years old. Other charges were dismissed or reduced as part of a plea agreement. All 125 victims who reported assaults to Michigan State Police will be allowed to give victim impact statements at Nassar's sentencing in January, according to the plea deal.
Victims include Aly Raisman (15 at the time) and McKayla Maroney (13 at the time)

A Baltimore homicide detective was killed with his own service weapon as he was preparing to testify against fellow officers indicted in a drug-running scheme.
