It seems pretty clear that Wikileaks just wanted to use Trump to sow discontent in the US. It also seems clear that the Trump campaign didn't have a clue what they were doing so they quite likely bumbled their way through colluding with a hostile foreign power because they had no clue what laws re.

On Nov. 13, Trump met with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe when he started to repeat one of his favorite false claims that the United States has “deficits with almost everybody.”
“Except us,” interjected Turnbull.
“Except with you,” Trump agreed, adding: “You’re the only one.” He then suggested he should check the figures, but Turnbull assured him, “It’s real.”

I don't know that its that severe. It seems like Jr was playing along, trying to make nice in the hopes of keeping WL on "their" side. Retweeting or sharing an already existing url feels a long way from collusion. Jr was fine going along until the second they asked for part of Trump's tax return and then he went radio silent. Once they asked to disseminate info Jr knew WL was just trying to stir trouble up on both sides.

Meanwhile, the Sessions Uranium One investigation is a pure distraction at its finest. Sessions is persona non grata at the Trump WH, and he feels pressured to do something to curry favor. The GOP was already floating having him appointed back to his Senate seat once Moore wins and gets tossed. He already let DJT down on the Russian investigation, so he's got to help the cause somehow. What better than to continue to fight a battle he already won.

He also has a fervent interest in investigating and writing about paranormal activities.
You say that like it's a bad thing. :(

I read an interesting piece about how this move from Sessions might be related more to Congress than president dipshit. GOP Congressman are not getting enough credit for how instrumental they've been in creating the President Trump as we know him. It's a practice for the House to abuse their investigatory powers to go after political opponents. So why would it be outrageous for Trump, fox news viewing president, to not just echo that sentiment.

Sessions, like Trump, doesn't remember the meeting when they talked Russia but he does remember saying they shouldn't talk about it.

Listening to NPR on the way to work today, they also said that the Senate was going to discuss the possibility of taking away the ability of the POTUS to launch nukes without someone else (Congress, the Cabinet, etc.) approving. Seems like a prudent step, but it's also scary that they think this is enough of pressing issue to address right now.

It also lengthens the time to react in case we were attacked. Not exactly something I want, but I also don't want holocaust.

I should have added that clarification. They wanted to look into taking away the ability of the POTUS to singlehandedly launch preemptive strikes and leave his ability to deal with defensive responses intact.

Sessions says his answers on Russian questions were all truthful, but that meeting with papadopoulas he couldn’t recall at the time. Is “I didn’t recall at that time” a valid legal response to a statement later proved as false?

I don't know about perjury directly but rules of evidence allow for a witness to be 'refreshed' if they claim not to remember something. So not recalling and then later being able to recall isn't really abnormal. Might not be relevant to your question.

Just that Sessions completely denied knowledge of anything russian, now he says he didn’t recall at that time, but media report refreshed his memory and he vehemently recalls shutting down papadopoulus.
Really seems like a case of selective memory.

You mean a guy is answering questions and trying covering himself so he doesn’t commit perjury? Shocking...

Not remembering a meeting, but then later being able to remember 'vehemently' behaving a certain way in that meeting is..... sort of a hard circle to square.

I heard something about Moore parading around an endorsement letter signed by a whole bunch of church leaders....an endorsement letter that was from before all of the sex allegations. Now a bunch of those pastors are withdrawing their support.
