I had a Philosophy professor at Pitt in 2005 who swore up and down Bush was working with Blackwater and the CIA to not only bleed Iraq of oil, but to begin a monarchial Bush dynasty in the White House.

He did this for a whole class period.

I was told Mike Pence would open reorientation camps for gays.

People believing insanely dumb stuff is not unique to Trump people.

It's also not proof that Trump is a uniquely bad actor in our political history.

He'll be gone in 2020 and everything will go back to its boring routine.

"Boring routine" before or after the economy collapses because of his poor decisions?
In case you missed the articles at the early part of January our economy shows no signs of recession and seems to be ignoring his policies.

It'll be interesting what this quarter's report will say. It seems like more places I'm familiar with are announcing fairly large lay-offs. Could just be personal bias, but it seems rather significant.

I dont think we've fully felt the effects of the tariffs/trade bunglings either.

The furlough will impact the employment the next couple of months.

I've also seen both sides bashing her for being a "mouthpiece" for Bashar al-Assad.

So Clemson visits the White House tonight.

Trump, to reporters this morning: "“I think we’re going to serve McDonald’s, Wendy’s and Burger King’s [sic], with some pizza,” Trump said. “I really mean it. It’ll be interesting. I think that would be their favorite food, so we’ll see what happens.”

 He thinks it's a kids' birthday party or something.

A dozen of the most high-profile @womensmarch partners who sponsored the 2017 march aren’t on the partnership list for this year’s event, in the shadow of anti-Semitism allegations.
In 2017, @NAACP, @emilyslist, @NARAL, @NatAbortionFed, @AFLCIO, @SEIU, @1199SEIU, @glaad, @HRC, @amprog, and @NRDC all partnered with @womensmarch. This year, none of them appear on the list of partners, and almost none returned my request for comment.

And in the process took jobs from Americans by paying illegal aliens (prolly from Home Depot, amirite) to carry around some sign.

Awesome. Keep in mind, much of the residence staff at the White House is furloughed – so the President is personally paying for the event to be catered. It’s not like he had to do that.

Yeah, I assumed the WH staff wouldn't be furloughed. But he invited some reporters into a dining room to show them the spread, and that's what he said: the kitchen staff were furloughed, and the West Wing staff put this spread together.

So when taxpayers foot the bill, it's White House catering. When Trump personally pays, it's McDonald's? What?

Steve King Loses House Committee Seats Over White Supremacy Remark
House Republican leaders removed Representative Steve King of Iowa from the Judiciary and Agriculture Committees on Monday night as the party officials scrambled to appear tough on racism and contain damage from comments Mr. King made to The New York Times questioning why white supremacy is considered offensive.

The punishment came on a day when Mr. King’s own party leadership moved against him, with the Senate majority leader, Mitch McConnell, suggesting Mr. King find “another line of work” and Senator Mitt Romney saying he should quit. In an attempt to be proactive, the House Republicans stripped him of his committee seats in the face of multiple Democratic resolutions to censure Mr. King that are being introduced this week.

Those measures will force Republicans to take a stand on whether to go along with the House Democratic majority’s attempt to publicly reprimand one of their own.

Speaking to reporters on Monday night after the congressional Republicans acted, Representative Kevin McCarthy of California, the party leader in the House, said he was not ruling out supporting a censure or reprimand resolution against Mr. King. He said the Republicans are not removing Mr. King from the G.O.P. House conference itself so he can still attend its party meetings.

“I think voters have that decision to make. But I think we spoke loud and clear that we will not tolerate this in the Republican Party,” said Mr. McCarthy, who conferred privately with Mr. King for an hour on Monday afternoon.
