Trump administration has figured out the way to get rid of all those pesky non-loyal government employees.

Position relocation isn’t anything new for the government.

Moving entire departments halfway across the country?

Yeah, happens all the time. Totally normal...
The main office of my agency moved from DC to Ft. Lee. The purpose of the move was to downsize the office. Yeah across the country isn’t normal, but that effectively did the same thing.

Moving Land Management to Colorado, and out of DC, is one of those ideas that is completely common sense but because #Trump people will lampoon it. Why make government more accessible to the people affected by it when you can just stack everyone in DC?

It's not like they're putting everything in boxes and forcing these employees out west. The ones that are not interested in moving will be given hiring preference to move to another agency, and there are plenty to move to in DC.

Up front there will be transitional adjustments and costs, but overall it is what fedgov should be doing.

The USDA move was more egregious, but this BLM move is alarming in that this agency has been a large vehicle for corruption within the administration, and also that it could indicate a growing trend of using relocation to get career staff to quit.

What Troy said. Its concerning that the fed gov continues to lose experience & expertise in these departments.
Then again that's been the conservative mantra for years, that government agencies control too much and are bloated so it shouldn't be a surprise. Not exactly something to go write on my picket sign.

Hands up all who think that 'common sense' is what animated the decision to move the bureau HQ.

It's either to discard career professionals or to move the HQ closer to this guy's house. Or a two birds, one stone thing.

I'm happy to admit that I'm evaluating this on the outcome based merits. Trump has been accidentally made some positive changes from a libertarian perspective and in situations like this. He can't win either way so at least the outcome is a net positive.

From a libertarian perspective, installing an incompetent, dyslexic piss-baby as president validates the opinion that the federal government is bad,

Moving BLM to Colorado is expected to save $50 million........ over the next 20 years.

I guess this is one of those the-journey-of-1,000-miles-begins-with-a-single-step kind of deals.

Well, yeah. Shyster and I have banged that drum since he was nominated. "The value of the executive branch is hugely overstated. Lets watch."

I'd posit the change was transparent to myself and the majority of Americans. Trump the shithead human being and Trump the inept executive is a distinction that doesn't exist for, well, almost everyone.

Nearly half the electorate voted for him. Even if only half of that population voted for him in this libertarian watch-the-world-burn fever dream, that still means a quarter of the electorate voted for him thinking he'd be good at presidenting.

Iran claims to have seized British oil tanker in strait of Hormuz
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claim to have seized a British oil tanker, the Stena Impero, which suddenly veered off course and headed into Iranian waters.

The ship’s owners issued a statement saying it had been “approached by unidentified small crafts and a helicopter during transit of the Strait of Hormuz while the vessel was in international waters.”

“We are presently unable to contact the vessel which is now heading north towards Iran,” the owners, Stena Bulk, and the ship’s managers, Northern Marine, said in the statement.

The UK ministry of defence said it was urgently looking into what had happened to the Stena Impero, a 30,000 tonne British-flagged ship, which was heading for Saudi Arabia when it abruptly left the international sea lanes through the strait of Hormuz and tracking data showed it heading north towards the Iranian island of Qeshm, where the Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has a substantial base.

The Revolutionary Guards issued a statement saying they had seized the Stena Impero, citing international maritime law for their action.
