I mean...... it states the reasoning right there in the text of the tweet?

I think you missed the point. It's the hypocrisy. If Covid is still raging in Chicago (it is) why is the mayor trying to open the bars/restaurants, especially given her previous Covid statements?Lest there be any confusion I am against both CFB and in-person dining.
I recognize your sarcasm. I find it very dumb in light of your position.
Or are we only allowed to poke fun/criticize GOP folk/Trumpers?

You're a disingenuous messenger. You think CFB and churches can't spread COVID. Then you come out laughing about a Democrat who thinks COVID can't find its way into a restaurant. Honestly, despite me liking you generally, get bent on this.

Maybe I'm just slow.

Are restaurants and bars closed anywhere now? California and New York, I think are, but anywhere else?
The ship has sailed on lockdown measures doing anything, we have normalized uncontrolled spread, it’s really just about keeping the at risk safe.

Seems sound. The purpose of closing restaurants is to keep people from commingling. If it’s not effective in doing that, and causing harm to commerce, why would you continue doing it?

Some tones have changed about closures I see.

........................ how?
She's seems to be trading the chance to limit higher-risk behavior by opening up lower-risk behavior? That's not to say 'no-risk'. How is that idiotic?
I don't know what the hospital situation is in Illinois and Chicago specifically, so maybe this is a considered tradeoff that makes sense given their situation. I know that that sort of thing isn't a viable option here in SoCal at the moment; we're finally getting to the point where daily new hospitalizations have been going down for a few days, but we're also not yet fully through the period where new cases from holiday gatherings have progressed to a serious enough stage to call for hospitalization. We aren't out of the woods yet, and hospital bed capacity is pretty critical. But we may be in a situation where we can consider reopening in-person dining and personal services and such in another few weeks. That doesn't mean 'COVID is gone' or there's no risk associated with those activities. That's a bad take, even for sarcasm.

All closures are 100% reactive. I mean like, the anti-lockdown crowd won. There have been no meaningful lockdowns anywhere. Are there lines outside of restaurants because of seating capacity constraints? No. but is demand down as people see eating out as an unnecessary risk? Yes.Some tones have changed about closures I see.

Between Cuomo and Lightfoot doing a complete 180 on lockdowns recently. Kind of interesting, IMO.

I was listening to a podcast a few weeks ago with an update on Sweden. They were still facing the same kind of problems with restaurants closing, even though as we all know, Sweden was hands off about a lot of things. That's anecdotal evidence, but to your point, even if restaurants are open and at full capacity, there isn't going to be a ton of demand, or at least enough demand to keep doors open in some cases. All closures are 100% reactive. I mean like, the anti-lockdown crowd won. There have been no meaningful lockdowns anywhere. Are there lines outside of restaurants because of seating capacity constraints? I will say every time I walk or drive by a restaurant I scratch my head at the number of people in there.

I wish they would have waited to announce anything about this investigation until after Trump does his pardons.
I wish they would have waited to announce anything about this investigation until after Trump does his pardons.
The DC attorney general's office has notified President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., that it would like to interview him as part of its investigation into misuse of his father's inaugural funds, a spokesperson with the office tells at CNN.
The interview request comes after new information about Trump Jr.'s role was revealed in court filings earlier this week.
In January 2020, the DC attorney general's office sued the Trump Organization and Presidential Inaugural Committee alleging they misused more than $1 million raised by the nonprofit by "grossly overpaying" for use of event space at the Trump Hotel in Washington for the 2017 inauguration.
