Stop acting like everyone that lives beyond a 25 minute commute from a city center is an uneducated rube
Well, clearly not everyone... just most. :slug:

I get Kenny's point. I'm not excusing the full blown anti Vax folks, but someone that lives in the middle of nowhere that wants to hold off on getting the shot until more long term data is out? Hey, as long as they stay isolated, which they likely will, go for it.

Now, the Amish family of 14 that piled out of a van into a pizza shop I was picking up dinner at last night, all unmasked? F them.

I don’t think these folks are making risk based decisions here, they are just obstinate yokels in enough cases to not really need to take a reasoned approach to their vaccine reluctance (being at less risk or waiting for more info).

I get that these people aren’t coming to hang out in Pittsburgh, but as long as they are interacting with other people, which I’m sure they are, they need to get vaccinated

These people aren’t chained to their bed. They go to supermarkets, bars, whatever.

If you’re not getting a shot even though you have access, there aren’t many outs left. You’re either a little b*tch who’s scared of needles or youre an imbecile who has a toddler level understanding of the world around you.

The *rural* profile in question is a guy with a giant Trump flag on his house who thinks COVID is still a hoax. F*** em. Give them a non-vax passport so they don’t get medical treatment when these diabetic mutants need a hospital bed.

Have you ever been to potter county? No one unwillfully goes there and most definitely no one unwillfully live there. They dont want to be in anything remotely resembling a city, that’s why they live in a place with 16 people per square **** mile. think about how few people 16 per square mile is. They live there because they want to be left alone. They aren’t coming to the city to give you COVID. They aren’t going anywhere. They want to be right where they are. And where they are has 3 new COVID cases per day.
Then why are we even discussing them?

Exactly. Potter County is an outlier when it comes to rural PA. Somerset has a population of over 70K and was throwing 200+ cases a day at peak. Heck, last week we had another day with 55, but until this weekend we were still below 20% vaccinated while the Walmart parking lot is full and all of the restaurants are packed.

You'd have to put a gun to the head of anyone in that position if you want gun reform.

The point of the roo's post... isn't it that if all these rural counties are above the state average, that means the large urban/suburban counties are dragging the average down, right?

The point everyone else is making is that you’re an irresponsible fool if you don’t get vaccinated- no matter where you live.

Right, but you guys have all been beating the drum for weeks that it's all these rural Trump folk to blame, and when I told yinz back in March about an effort to deliver vaccines to historically underserved areas (back when vaccines were not easy to come by) and that the demand was <40% of capacity, it got completely shrugged off.

I'd consider vaccine hesitancy (or refusal) to be nonpartisan. Plenty of fault to go around.

I posted data about how Trump countries were, per-capita, significantly less likely to Vax, which makes them significantly more foolish and irresponsible.

Dense urban centers do more damage because of the environment- not the individuals. If people in blue cities acted like Trumpers in the boonies, this country would be finished - and this is why we all think the people you carry water for are pathetic idiots.

The guy that lives behind us - in the sense that our backyard fence defines the edge of his driveway - was flying a "Trump-Pence 2020" flag up until 1/7. Our 'neighborhood' is 40,000 people; 'rural' doesn't get the job done in defining the spread of that stupid. Stupid of that level has no geography.

If it was a genuine privilege thing - ie it’s hard to facilitate vaccinations in rural areas - it would be sympathetic. But no, these people are flat out refusing to get vaccinated because they think Bill Gates and the world’s jews are conspiring to force everyone to be gay and whatnot

Your neighbor has 10’s of millions of avatars whose geographic dispersal isn’t exactly uniform, ya know.

In other words, rurals aren’t anti vax because they’re rural. It’s because of their socio political world view - which is a fancy way to say they’re naive rubes being controlled by Fox News.

Due to its remoteness and natural environment, it has been nicknamed “Gods Country.” The county is also known for its white supremacy movements.

Shooting in Austin leaves 3 dead at an apartment complex.

Is it a slippery slope when we talk about the number of dead people or is that term reserved for you paranoid gun muppets?

Was sitting at my kids soccer game amongst mostly vaxed adults and we’re all wearing masks for no reason other than Trumpers using COVID as a prop in the culture war, preventing us all from being normal again. These pig f***ers really did a number on things in the last year.

Thought there was a chance that a summer full of good vibes and harmony was gonna get us out of this, roaring 20’s style. But nope. We gotta keep hating each other for a little while longer.
