I don't have a stake at all, fwiw. Or even an opinion really. I am all for vaccines in arms, period. 1A priority but as long as doses are going out society benefits. Whatever squabbles come out it are a sideshow to me.

I am 100% for keeping schools open (or, for you in the less fortunate states - reopening). I myself have been in the classrooms since August. That being said, the author the article cites - Emily Oster - is known to be quite extreme (google "Oster + alcohol + pregnancy") and she was majorly wrong before (google "Oster + hepatitis B").I agree with a lot of this. And I'm not an anti masker or COVID denier.

“The evidence on remote learning suggests that despite the best efforts of teachers it doesn’t work for a large share of kids,” said Emily Oster, a Brown University economist who has studied the issue. “I think we’ve deprioritized children in a way that will do long-term damage.”
What are the risks of opening schools? We now have a great deal of data in the United States and abroad comparing areas that reopened schools versus those that kept them closed. As the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found, “in-person learning in schools has not been associated with substantial community transmission.” The British Medical Journal this week put it this way in an editorial: “Closing schools is not evidence based and harms children.”
Most evidence aligns with a careful Tulane study that found that in most of the United States, school openings do not increase coronavirus hospitalizations. And teachers generally don’t seem at greater risk than people in other occupations. While it is crucial to improve ventilation, increase testing and maintain adequate spacing, those steps aren’t always possible — and failure to meet every benchmark shouldn’t be an automatic bar to in-person schooling.
Teachers in some places are suggesting that in-school instruction shouldn’t resume even after they are vaccinated, not until students are vaccinated as well. That is an abdication of responsibility to America’s children.
This is an article critical of Oster's Covid work:

For those who have been vaccinated, are you back in the office and if not, why not?
I agree, if you’re vaccinated, you should be ready to go back.

My company basically lets no one back in, regardless.

I went back to the office for the first time since last March. It’s been open for a while but I don’t see a point going back. I only went because it was a super nice day and my company built a new outdoor area so I worked from there
I don’t really see the point of going back until everyone is back. Working from home is too convenient and the point of going to the office is to be able to collaborate with coworkers...which is pointless until everyone is back

Not, the entire DoD is on max telework until 30-Jun. I still do my one day a week essential work, but I don't think it counts because I work alone in a vault. For those who have been vaccinated, are you back in the office and if not, why not?
I agree, if you’re vaccinated, you should be ready to go back.
But, I promoted into a full telework position and hope to make that permanent.

I was home 90% of the time pre covid. I have no where to go once we’re open again.
...but I miss those sweet sweet business trips terribly. We have a pretty cushy travel situation.

Just openly fascist at this point. I was hoping the nazi association would be obscure, but Jesus, it’s one wiki page. Can’t really pretend to not know, it’s more, we aren’t concerned about the nazi connection. And”we aren’t nazis because we don’t murder Jews and homosexuals”, and that is supposed to reassure everyone appalled by the insane far right in this county
Oh, please. It's a symbol that was used by one SS volunteer unit. In Croatia.
Quick, without Googling, everyone who thinks the CPAC people chose a Nazi logo, tell me what the unit logos were for, say, the US Army 13th Airborne Division, 32nd Infantry Division, and 47th Infantry Division. Because all of you are experts on historical military unit insignia, I'm sure you know all of those without even thinking, right?

In November 2016, the leadership of the National Socialist Movement announced their intention to replace the Nazi-pattern swastika with the Odal rune on their uniforms and party regalia in an attempt to enter mainstream politics.[9][10]
Also, it was used by the SS Race and Settlement Main Office, which was responsible for maintaining the racial purity in the SS.

All right, everyone who had heard of the Odal rune and its Nazi connections before the last two days, please say so and explain how you already knew that.

It’s on the wiki page. I didn’t know, but as I said before, if they knew enough about the sign to want to use it, they had to know its association with nazis, and just didn’t careAll right, everyone who had heard of the Odal rune and its Nazi connections before the last two days, please say so and explain how you already knew that.

Our company is moving into a new office space in a month or two. Our manager mentioned plans for coming back to be talked about soon. There is no legitimate reason for me to ever have to go back into the office ever again.
Both of the people I manage have no interest in coming back full time. To compound matters, as recruiters, we are on the phone much of the day, often discussing stuff like salary or recruiting for positions that aren't even technically open.
Going to have a difficult talk with my director this week. The only thing that could work in our favor is that we were asked to WFH full time prior to the pandemic to save office space, since our job is 100% remote and mostly with people outside the org.

If I’m constantly having to defend myself as “not a neonazi organization”, maybe I take the 30 minutes necessary to familiarize yourself with nazi symbols to not put yourself in this kind of situation.
But that’s just a maybe.

I was working at home pre covid and will continue after. Traveling is the only difference. Should be good to go in April.
I can’t wait to get the heck back on the road. Someone mentioned possibly San Antonio. You could do worse than the Riverwalk to blow off a year plus of steam.
