I think you got it wrong. The Fuentes' Neo-Nazi conference is AFPAC. The conference with Nazi-symbol shaped stage is CPAC:

Just openly fascist at this point. I was hoping the nazi association would be obscure, but Jesus, it’s one wiki page. Can’t really pretend to not know, it’s more, we aren’t concerned about the nazi connection. And”we aren’t nazis because we don’t murder Jews and homosexuals”, and that is supposed to reassure everyone appalled by the insane far right in this county

In the wake of the insurrection at the Capitol, a national Three Percenters group—part of a sprawling network of militia groups—took a long, hard look in the mirror, and didn’t like what they saw.

So they’re breaking up. This week, they announced the dissolution of the “Three Percenters National Council.”

“The DC riots and Capitol breach has hurt the patriot movement drastically and as a result brought an end to our organization,” they wrote in a statement. “It’s quite unfortunate that we’ve come to this.”
Wow, they canceled themselves.

I agree with a lot of this. And I'm not an anti masker or COVID denier.

“The evidence on remote learning suggests that despite the best efforts of teachers it doesn’t work for a large share of kids,” said Emily Oster, a Brown University economist who has studied the issue. “I think we’ve deprioritized children in a way that will do long-term damage.”

What are the risks of opening schools? We now have a great deal of data in the United States and abroad comparing areas that reopened schools versus those that kept them closed. As the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found, “in-person learning in schools has not been associated with substantial community transmission.” The British Medical Journal this week put it this way in an editorial: “Closing schools is not evidence based and harms children.”

Most evidence aligns with a careful Tulane study that found that in most of the United States, school openings do not increase coronavirus hospitalizations. And teachers generally don’t seem at greater risk than people in other occupations. While it is crucial to improve ventilation, increase testing and maintain adequate spacing, those steps aren’t always possible — and failure to meet every benchmark shouldn’t be an automatic bar to in-person schooling.

Teachers in some places are suggesting that in-school instruction shouldn’t resume even after they are vaccinated, not until students are vaccinated as well. That is an abdication of responsibility to America’s children.

Could you please expound on this take as to why the former Ambassador to Russia is insane for suggesting containment of the Soviets had alternative applications to installing/supporting mad dictators so long as they professed to dance the anti-communist tango?

Yes, the murderous dictators did not "convince us" of anything.

Also, there was no risk of the soviets mingling with Chile. Nixon knew that the Cuba thing cost him the 1960 election and he would do anything to prevent another country in our hemisphere from being ruled by a socialist.

The last sentence is a joke. They aren’t public servants and they aren’t paid well. Not to mention this isn’t a monolith situation. Different schools have different safety measures in place, and if a teacher isn’t comfortable then they should tune this out from the peanut gallery.

Here’s the one and only take...in every state, teachers should be a top priority to get near the front of the line. And until that happens, takes like this can pound salt.

I think the bitter taste here is that they elbowed their way to the front of the line and now don't want to go back to the duty that gave them the privilege. So they got the vaccine so they can have less risk in their personal life. Couple that with the teacher teaching while on vacation in Cancun and it's a bad look.

I don't care either way, just stating it so the other side is acknowledged. Why should they be 'top priority' if their exposure is the same as mine, a lowly IT guy working from home?

Yup. Education in person is either critical or it isn’t. If it is, get them vaccinated and get back to work. If it isn’t, get back in line for the vaccine and wait your turn.

The fact that teachers aren’t paid enough to put up with the bullsh*t they have to put up with is a different discussion.

I don’t know who these “I’m vaccinated early because of privilege but refuse to go to school” people are. Sounds like those 9 month abortion ladies.

Obviously that’s not an ok approach, though. If you cut in line do your job after.

Weekend morning shows are in a hell of a place, really. They're obviously not going to exist in 20 years, and their death rattle won't be silent. They're A) going to not tell straightforward news because it's bad TV and B) going to keep extending invites to GOP miscreants without pushing back on the Big Lie, since beggars can't be choosers, ratings wise. Gotta cast that big net for all the grandmas out there who think Rona McDaniel is just so delightful like her father.

Just put reruns of the Office on if you need to fill the air time, chodes.

“Elbowed their way to the front of the line”? I’m not sure how true that is. I assume it’s a reference for unions advocating for it, but even in right to work states I think it’s similar. I didn’t ask for special treatment.

And the teacher teaching while on vacation... definitely not a common thing. Let’s not just pick out the worst.

I agree, if you’re vaccinated, you should be ready to go back.

Lastly, these studies, I believe, are based on masking and social distancing. Bringing everyone back doesn’t allow for the social distancing part. Kids need to be back, for sure.
