I think the problem is that people, either consciously or subconsciously want that, or would gladly watch the government collapse, if it meant something like, less gun laws.

Mitch the dodint. If you have listed to 99% of what he has said since 1/6 and knew nothing else about him you’d think he’d vote to convict. Gotta play the middle though, most likely because he’ll use these same words agains a Dem in the future where the caveat of not being in office isn’t there.
If we learned anything, they don’t give a **** about saying one thing and doing the other.

The event happened on January 19...and nothing happens outside of Vanity Fair reporting it.

The Executive Committee of the Republican Party of Louisiana has unanimously voted to censure Senator Bill Cassidy for his vote cast earlier today to convict former President Donald J. Trump on the impeachment charge.

That and Wyoming's censure of Liz Cheney just shows how blind the Elephants are to the situation. It's what's good for us not what's good for the big picture or the country. The Donkeys on the other side would likely do the same thing but they're not the ones under fire at the moment. The whole concept of party politics is incredibly stupid.

I think this might explain the censure discrepancy, which probably no one really cares about:
If a Senator introduces an amendment that contains censorious language or attempts to alter a
resolution of censure, that amendment would also be subject to debate. As a result, without
unanimous consent, one or more cloture processes, requiring supermajority vote thresholds, might
be necessary in order to reach a final vote on censure language in the Senate
For a censure to include language about not allowing Trump to run again, that triggers the above I believe.

Well, "Pelosi rules out censure after Trump acquittal"
https://thehill.com/homenews/house/5387 ... -acquittal
“Oh, these cowardly senators who couldn’t face up to what the president did and what was at stake for our country are now going to have a chance to give a little slap on the wrist?” Pelosi said while slapping her own wrist.

“We censure people for using stationery for the wrong purpose," said Pelosi, referring to an episode that led Democrats to censure former Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) in 2010.

"We don’t censure people for inciting insurrection that kills people in the Capitol.”

I know this is a stale, repeated opinion at this point, but this country desperately needs to start supporting third parties more. It wouldn't be a miracle cure but I'm so sick and tired of the same sht year after year.

If your rent and bills are only $230 per month, you definitely need that money more than me.

That's part of it though. There is a rent moratorium in effect, a student loan 0% interest forebearance, an extended no penalty mortgage forebearance underway, and there was a period of high unemploymemt compensation payouts. So if you are not paying those costs, you can put that money towards other bills and obligations. Acknowledging that, $1400 could pay several months worth of remaining bills because the heaviest debt yoke has been lifted from most peoples shoulders.

I have posted elsewhere that this behaivor is exactly what is occuring. People are paying consumer debt down to record lows despite very high unemployment.

This bill is best viewed for what it is, a stimulus. Not a lifesaver, for most.
